Can I purchase SD2 and use it with X2 Essential? CW has a very good offer ... Eigdur

I think so. I had the same idea the other day, but I reconsidered it. I have NI's 'Drummer' libraries and SSD4 EX, they sound great but are very CPU expensive and take a little too long to load, so I wanted to get a lighter drum library to use sometimes, but I missed out the good deal on EZ Drummer last year, so I considered SD2. But...it might not sound as good, especially when SD3 is already out there (with sonar pro). I also bought BFD Eco when it was $20 or something, but I didn't like the sound at all (especially the machine gun effect). I think I'm waiting for another EZD sale.

Hang on a second. Do you mean $49.99?

I always thought buying software at overseas sites is cheaper than buying it here in JP. But look! It's only 1,050 yen!! (11 dollars?)

And, yes, it works with X2 Essential.

if anything now you have learned on the next version/upgrade,go for producer.
its packed with all those extras that are well worth the price.

Thanks for rapid responses! Charlie, you are definitely right about upgrading. Producer upg costs in Europe 399 euros, I can't afford it yet, in future yes. Jlien, SD2 is available in Europe now for 9,99 euros. In the japanese link I understood (!?) that it works in X2SL. Thanks once more Eigdur

So I downloaded SD2 for 9,99 euros and installed it. But - X2 ESL did not find it as VST. I wrestled a couple on hours (uninstall, reinstall, directory paths checking, windows registry working) without success. I think that's about it! Well, experiment at quit reasonable cost anyway. No use to carry on. Started dreaming about X2 PE ...

I'm so sorry to hear that. I could purchase it myself and try as well, but even if my Sonar fails to find the vst as well, I cannot contact Roland JP and blame them for the wrong information, because they only support Japanese version of Sonar (I'm using the English version). Maybe you can contact Cakewalk and ask them to add system requirements info to their product page, which will help other users wondering if SD2 works with X2 Essential.

Did you rescan plugins?

i would first re-scan your plug ins and make sure its in the correct directory.
This should indeed work.

but you may have to make a fewadjustments first,re installing wont do much except just re-install the plug in,you need to point essentials in the direction of session drummer 2.

I appreciate your advices, and made one more try. SD2 installation ok. In CW Plug-in Manager after scanning no sign or hint of SD2. I added to scanning paths C:\program files\cakewalk\vstplugins\session drummer 2 (where is the file SessionDrummer2.dll) New scan: same result. After resettin all vst plugins: no effect. It seems like the scan doesn't hit at all the sd2 plugin directory. Any ideas? I may have  some blind spot, and I dont see something obvious. Is there any other way to point to SD2 plugin than to  add the proper scanning path to proper dll? Or I might start from the scratch and reinstall X2 (BTW my AmpliTubeXGear plugin doesn't load since the installation of X2a patch). Thank you for your patience.
