Simple project, audio only.

2 mono tracks (mono interleave), panned fully left and right

playing is correct: both tracks fully panned

bounce to tracks:  mono clip   ??????

Settings are with format Stereo output

 full mix hardware output, or single buss

All boxes unchecked

master bus is set to stereo interleave

This happens with fast bounce, and with realtime, listening.

With slow bounce the meters show mono.

Have tried w7, w8, sonar X2 and 8.5.3.

Have created a new project, imported 2 wav files,....

Have tried changing interleave on mono tracks.

Starting to say short words real loud

Clues?

Check your bounce to track source, not your output source as you are doing.
I just made a fast check and bounced 2 mono files and i got a stereo track from the 2 mono tracks panned left and right, although panning will have nothing to do with it.

Thanks for the response.

I apologise for some un-clarity:

The bounced track is a "stereo" track showing 2 images.

what is happening is both sides are the same in image and sound.

Both mono tracks are being bounced to left AND right resulting in a "mono" mix of both.

=======================

>> Check your bounce to track source, not your output source as you are doing.

Not sure what this means.  The bounce to tracks format is set to stereo.

Summary:
2 mono waves
2 mono interleave tracks
panned left right
bounce is set to stereo track
bus is stereo interleave
pan is centered

=================

just tried it with one mono clip/track panned left: the same sound is now on both tracks.

What have I done to deserve this?

New audio interface drivers for w8. Not for w7.  I have not noticed this before.

Just strange.

Your problem is "All boxes unchecked"

From the manual in the section "Bouncing Tracks"...

"If you don’t check Track Automation, any initial volume and pan settings in an exported track are ignored and the track’s audio data will be exported at the level that exists in the track with pan set to center."

Thank you for this.

To me Basic settings are not Automation.

From the manual::
"Automation
Automation means to record the movement of a fader, knob, or other control so that the next time you play your project, that control moves automatically. "

Got in the habit of unchecking all that were not needed to speed bouncing.

Amazing this is the first time I have attempted this action in 12 years.

Ya learn something stupid everyday.
