  • My Native Instruments plugin names have been screwed up!

Somewhere along the line, after a lot of vst scans today (a long story), my NI plugin names have been screwed up. Specifically, whereas before I had for example "Absynth 5 FX Surround, Absynth 5 FX" and  "Reaktor5 FX, Reaktor5 Surround" and "Kontakt, Kontact 8out, Kontakt 16out" etc, now I just have "Absynth, Absynth", "Reaktor, Reaktor" and "Kontakt, Kontakt, Kontakt" etc. It no longer tells me how to differentiate between the different forms of these plugs.

How can this be? I'm presuming the scan takes the plug names from the .dll's....well those .dll's are still named as they should be. It's as if Sonar has decided it's going to just read the first word of the NI plug names from now on.

Is there anything I can do to rectify this quite frankly huge problem?

plugin manager will display the filename and path for each plugin, and allow you to rename and repopulate anything in your plugin menu layout.

I've been using X2a since the day it was released and have rescanned my VST's many times since then, yet the NI plugs have never changed and have always specified their type. This just happened today.

So I read that thread and it seems you can put a value into the initialization file (VSTPlugInNameFormat)which specifies the naming convention for dll's. And I changed it in order to have the plugs named from the dll's.

So it does! Guess I'll just have to go into my custom layout and change the names manually

Surely this shouldn't be the case if you save a plugin layout though?
