brand new tune i'm trying to mix....
 
questions:

1. can i get away with the bass being as hot as it is...?
2. drums are synthetic, and much deeper than usual, with the way i eq'd them, do they still work?
3. anything else........

I am not a good mix guy, but here are my nonpro thoughts (I listened with my Koss Portapro headphones). Bass sounds cool and groovy. The drums could be a bit louder imo. Vocals are very nice. Great stuff!

Really cool song.  Bass works fine here.  Love the layers and textures.  If you do boost the drums, I wouldn't go too crazy with the kick. It sounds pretty good where it is right now!  Again:  Really loving the various guitars panned hard.  Very Gilmore-esque and awesome.  

The mix is great on my system. Clean and clear. Every instrument, voice, harmony, all. The song grooves hard! 

no question your on the right path....the vox has the old Steely Dan texture to it...which is kinda dated these days but I love it...

You know I'm not one of the "mix guys" up here and it is a work in progress.  Listening on BX8a monitors, the bass is right there eq wise.  In the Sennheiser HD280Pro headphones (I only give the model numbers for your reference) the bass is a bit bright, but that's ok cause all of my bass parts seem to be that way now.  So as far as the bass goes...not a lot of suggestions except...PLAY THAT BASS BOY!  You do it so well.  AS FAR AS DRUMS, I could use a bit more in your face.  Now all of this is subject to my ears changing 3 hours from now.  Probably a harder snap on the snare maybe.  I'll stop there and say, nice song!
