  • Addictive Drums 2 Sound Drops out Randomly

There are other threads about this from a while ago but none seem to have ever solved it.

With an already prepared Addictive Drums 2 track, the drums will just randomly drop out every so often. I've got a beat with changes and everything throughout the song, and I've both played the song in Sonar and exported the song to wav in the past with no issue. There are also about 8 other tracks from other sources like Omnisphere, Kontakt, etc.

But today, when I load the cakewalk project, it's doing this dropout thing. The midi data is all there. It just randomly drops out like as if there are no notes for a couple seconds and then it comes back. It happens in random places. And if I try to just freeze the drum track, it freezes it with dropouts every so often.

I have an i7 and 32gb RAM. Loading off an SSD. It's a really powerful computer and shouldn't be running into performance issues, which makes me think its more of a bug. Running windows 7 64bit and Sonar Platinum

Any ideas?

Thanks so much.

Are you giving the synth enough time to load the samples before playing the track?
Maybe try changing the kit, to see if that affects it?
Try opening standalone AD, and loading the MIDI clip into the app directly, bypassing Sonar. This will show you which part is likely causing the problem.
These are shots in the dark, I've never had this happen and your PC should be more than sufficient.

Edit/Preferences/under Audio, "Driver Settings" - - -> buffer size, set to big, like 1024 samples?

you probably already tried this.

This is the buffer setting I use for mixing. for tracking (recording) I set it as small as I can (256).

Thanks for the responses guys. I got it fixed... funny thing is I did two things at once so I'm not quite sure which it was...

1) I created a new instance of Addictive Drums 2 and selected the same kit then dragged the MIDI over to the new track (I'm smart).

2) I had an instance of iZotope Trash2 on the drum track as an effect, so when I went to copy that onto the new drum track, as it opened it reminded me that I hadn't yet Authorized it (which I know I did before, so it's really weird that it says I didn't, but that's another story)... So I re-authorized it.

So I'm actually going with #2 possibly having been the problem. It's possible that as an unauthorized product, Trash2 was like demo mode-ing me in the form of dropping out its audio every so often? Eh, whatever. I think we're good now :-)
