Okay - re-scan your VST's and it seems to be okay.

So, who wants to school me in setting this thing up for a side chain:
vocals on one track
acoustic guitar on another

???

I don't know if they've worked on the algorithms or anything.. Would be nice to know, actually.

But function-wise the update gives you two new things:
Side chaining and a VST-version (to use outside PC)

I don't think it would be very smart to give it more new features, since it's a emulation of a hardware unit. Better to stay true to the original

Yeah, I was thinking of under the hood tweaks more than functions. Side chaining is a nice addition but not worth an upgrade for me. I'd probabaly just keep using the PC version anyway.

Heh Phil,

Its pretty straighforward depending on what you want to sidechain or duck.

Lets say you have a heavy/thick acoustic guitar section that is covering up the vocals when its at its hottest part and you dont want to automate the buss or track because, from then on, you will be adjusting volume envelopes or adjusting offset.

1. Insert the CA2A on your Electric guitar track or buss and leave the setting at default for now.
2. Go to your vocal channel or vocal Buss and click the + icon in the "SENDS"  window under the FX bin.
3. Scroll down and click on CA-2A (Input 2) of your offending Guitar buss.
4. Play the section back and the vocal channel will now 'trigger' the CA-2A and start to compress the Guitar Buss. The settings for gain and reduction will control how much as will the Vocal Channel 'SEND' amount. Allthough, I usually leave this at the unity default 0.0db.

Very handy and much more subtle/surgical than other methods of dynamic control ( automation, clip gain, ect. )

Thanks much - I can't wait to try it.

I took the plunge. I only paid $39.50 for the original on sale and so another $20 is not too bad. Ordered it using PayPal. Received the receipt and download link almost immediately and then it took about 5 minutes to get the serial number and registration. Not bad.

Hey Featherlight - I tried sidechaining with your approach - but my display shows different options. When I hit the + under the FX Bin for the vocal, I only get the options for "Audio FX' "Softsynths" and then "External Insert" and FX Chain" ??

Any thoughts?

So, How's it sound? Is it the most wonderful thing or another plug in?

Truly the best emulation of Teletronix LA-2 I ever heard so far! You don’t need to demo it just buy it! Run over anything..

I used the old version PC-2A (version 1) and that sound awesome. This new version (version 2.0) sounds even better and even more amazing. Warm, musical truly real analog feel to it. Also the new version 2.0 seems to fix all the old bugs, graphical bug with loading Pro Channel presets with the PC2A included.
Great job Cakewalk!
