The VST interface looks nice.  All the switches and dials work as expected. (Better than some of the competing products.)  I haven't time at the moment to do side by side comparisons but I expect it will sound good.

If this is a vst now, why isn't there a demo available? Did I miss it?

Do I understand correctly that the older version does NOT do sidechaining?

Yes, the original PC2A module does not sidechain.

UA made LA2A revisions, out in february. I wait for them and compare to Cakewalks emulation. But I think if revisions sound in same league as 1176 revisions, CA-2A will no longer be necessary...

I'm in the same boat...the UA 1176 Collection was a HUGE step up over the originals, and has probably become the only reason I haven't sold the card yet. If they do the same thing with the LA-2A Collection, then I can't see myself buying the CA-2A. Plus, it will be $149 for me to upgrade to the LA-2A collection to get 3 very different sounding units (at least according to UA - which I believe based off their 1176's), whereas it would cost me $99 to buy the Cakewalk version.

That said, I did go looking for a CA-2A demo and couldn't find one, so until that happens, there is absolutely zero chance of me buying it.

I emailed CS, didn't get a return email but the SN and Reg number showed up in My Account. Well over 12 hours but it is installed and registered. I haven't used it but it imported into the PC of a project... looks good anyway!

NICE!!

I don't think there is one (yet). If there is, I'd certainly like that link too.

Carl thanks for asking again, apparently me asking didn't warrant a reply lol

I'd really like a demo for this thing!

Tried to buy upgrade today using same card I've bought all my Cake stuff with, and got "card not approved error".   Good old cake.

Never mind.
