I have just encountered a new problem, I can create a clip, copy and paste it no problems, but, when I paste special and try and paste more than 1 repetition it does not let me. Nothing happens except for the play bar will then not play past the point where I wanted to paste. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is the only major bug that I have had so far.

Now I have found out that once I do try paste special I cannot then copy and paste at all, I have tried this a couple of old projects and the same is happening and now they are completely locked up, I cannot do any copying or pasting at all, even after a couple of reboots!!!

no problems here, some system specs may assist.

I have a Core i7, running at 4.6ghz, 32GB RAM, 64bit, never had any problems up until today.

Works okay here too. There are several settings in the paste special box that can be adjusted and could mimic the behaviour you are seeing but you'd need to specifically set them that way.

There's a couple of "advanced copy and paste special" videos on my youtube page that may help. They were created in X1 but copy and paste has got even better in X2 with most if not all of the old bugs fixed.

One here the other here

Hello FBB, thanks for replying. I have seen all of your great videos before, but this is a strange one. I think something may have got messed up in my registry as I have tried opening up new projects and the same happens. I could either load a midi clip or create an audio clip, if I press play on transport it still keeps playing past the end point of the clip. I can copy and paste the clip and it is all good as well. As soon as I paste special where the end of the clip should have been I get a greyed out timeline, but no clip is pasted. Then when I press play the timeline will not play past the point of the original clip. Also I cannot then do any copying and pasting either and then even if I shut down Sonar and restart that project is "corrupted"  and I have now tried this is on 3 projects that I now cannot do anything with?
If you have any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

TBH that sounds like there might be some sort of corruption going on especially given that the project is corrupted when you try and re-open it.

I don't really know what to suggest other than either contacting tech support or trying a re-install. Sorry I can't think of any thing else that would cause it.

Cheers for this I thought this would probably be the case, I will try a re-install tonight and if no success will try tech support. Can't wait to get out of work, only 8 hours left to go....

There are a couple of different un-installs. The standard one doesn't remove everything. This process will but..... you'll lose any previous settings. It will allow a completely clean install, which will detect any previous version (i.e. X1) installs though.

  • Go to Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs Un-install SONAR X2 - When prompted to “Remove Shared Files”, click “Yes to All”
  • Go to Start, type regedit into “search programs and files”
    •     Navigate to HKEY_Current_User\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\ and delete the “X2” key
    •     Navigate to HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\ and delete the “X2” key
  • If you have 32-bit SONAR X2 installed on a 64-bit OS, follow this step in addition:
    • Navigate to HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\ and delete the "X2" key
  • Open Windows Explorer to C:\Program Files\Cakewalk or C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk
    • Verify that the SONAR X2 Producer Edition directory has been removed
    • Open the Shared Utilities folder and delete PluginManager.exe and VstScan.exe
  • Open Windows Explorer to %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Cakewalk
    • Delete the “SONAR X2 Producer Edition” directory if it exists
  • Open Windows Explorer to %APPDATA%\Cakewalk
    • Delete the “SONAR X2 Producer Edition” directory if it exists
  • Open Windows Explorer to \Users\(your user name)\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk
    • Delete the "SONAR X2 Producer Edition" directory if it exists

I'm sorry that you have problems. Its important that this feature work for you!
I just wanted to say it works here too flawless. I have no idea why you have these problems?

Try to update Microsoft visual C++ x64 Service packs and see if that fix it..
