First off let me say that I am thrilled with X2 so far. I could nitpick (Colors, dialogs sometimes pop up on the 2nd monitor even though I opened and closed them on the first monitor, little annoyances like that) but I have had no crashes and I have had no dropouts where I did with the same project with X1. I still have more testing with my system on that though but so far so good. The install took only a few minutes (Got the email while at work and logged in remote and kicked off the downloads so they were waiting when I got home).
 
The one problem I was hoping I would have less of with X2 is latency with either POD Farm or with TH2 (I bought the full version and love it so far). Note that I have the same delay with either one. Notes are like a whole step behind or like a delay. If I go in and change audio settings they are fine until I start the song playing and then the delay kicks in.
 
I have tried ASIO and WDM drivers as well as buffer settings, using ASIO reported latency, manual offset, and changed the buffer settings in my Presonus Firestudio. But so far I have not hit on settings that work consistently and this really is a big problem for me. The obvious solution which is not convenient for me is to use an external process and run direct or mic and amp (I also have a POD XL and other processors but want to have the flexibility of TH2 with X2).
 
So can someone recommend some settings that work. ONe other positive is that before if I used WDM drivers with my setup I would have lots of dropouts with X1. With X2 WDM seems to be working fine but so does ASIO so I am open to the best solution.

There are a few plug-ins, such as the LP-64s, that need to look into the future in real-time in order to do what they do.  To keep everything synced up they report a delay so SONAR can introduce "plug-in delay compensation."

You can override that to see if this is what's happening.  Do so by clicking the "PDC" button on the  Mix Control Bar Module:





After enabling that, maybe the delay will go away.  If so, the plug-ins that introduce the delay won't work perfectly, but you'll be able to input monitor at low latency.

Jumpin johosafat. Night and day. I'm not sure what you mean by won't work perfectly though. I recorded a few passages and I would say they were pretty much spot on. Both POD Farm 64 and TH2 64 bit. This is with more about 16 audio tracks of various degrees.

Great! What I meant by "won't work perfectly" is that those plugs react ahead of time to things that are about to happen (hope that makes sense).  They can't do that when you have the "PDC" button enabled.  Once you're done tracking you should turn that button off so that they can do all their special magical stuff :).

OK... I'm having the same huge latency delay in TH2 as Vette... (It's so bad, I can't play along with the track.)   I'll try the fix and report back.

As Bill indicated, the latency isn't due to the TH2. Its due to having another plugin that has delay on one of your buses downstream. When you have such plugins, SONAR has to delay all tracks feeding that bus to align the audio (i.e. delay compensation).

The PDC override button is a useful way to get rid of latency induced by SONAR's delay compensation. However keep in mind that this is bypassing PDC, so if you record with the PDC override engaged you may need to nudge your recorded clips to put them back in sync with the other tracks when you turn on delay compensation again.
Another way to avoid delay while tracking is to only activate PDC plugins after the tracking process.

I got a hold of X2 Producer and was so excited only to be super bummed when I had the same problem. I run ASIO on the Cakewalk/Roland V-Studio 100 and on X1 it's incredibly fast and transparent. In fact it's my 4th interface in the quest for true low latency. But on X2 it's the same ol' problems again. I read what Bill Jackson said about the LP-64s. I use those a lot but I also have a ton of great non-cake plug-ins and I'm not tied to that EQ at all. Anyway, getting to it. I found that I had to just kill that plug-in altogether to get my low latency back. Once I deleted the LP-64s all my problems were over. This might work for someone else so, here's the post :-) Happy recording all
