Hi all,
 
I am trying to hook up my Gaia through USB to record directly into Sonar. I've installed the latest driver and the latest firmware. The Gaia driver appears in Sonar's driver list, but it is grayed out and I can't select it.
 
Any ideas? I am wondering if I have to use a certain driver mode - perhaps the mode I'm using for my Mackie inputs isn't compatible... not sure.

If you are trying to record audio in ASIO mode, remember you can only have one device enabled at a time. Uncheck the current audio device in SONAR preferences to select another one.

And you have to uncheck _both_ the input and output devices before you can select another one. I spent hours trying to figure that out until Karl's video helped me out.

In doing this though, I then lose the ability to use my primary sound card for listening, and the project needs to be changed to 44.1.

I also found out that I lose all of my mappings when I disable my primary audio interface. I'm confused at how this should work in workflow... do I need to render a project down to an audio file and import it into a new project to work with it? Having it change the project bit rate AND lose all of my other track mappings (20 or so of them) just doesn't seem practical...

Agreed, unfortunately the "single audio device" limitation is imposed by the ASIO specification.

that did it. Unfortunately, then it converts the project to 44.1 and compeltely unmaps all of my tracks. YIKES!

there has to be a better way, doesn't there?

If the device only supports 44.1 either record it separately in a different project and import the files or track the entire project at 44.1

scook - I am fine recording the entire project at 44.1, but I would like the freedome to move back and forth between using the Gaia and other inputs. But if I change the input driver to the Gaia - it drops ALL other track mappings. I feel like I'm missing something obvious, but maybe not... :(

Ah, so I can go WDM and use all at the same time.

What do I lose going away from ASIO?

Also, the incomming volume from the Gaia is very low any ideas? I'm thinking of trying a full system reset, but would like to avoid it.

If you have WDM drivers, try them, you don't loose anything by changing between WDM and ASIO. Some devices work better with one or the other driver. Some seem to work equally well with both.

Alternately, if you just want the audio from the Gaia it might be easier to use the audio outs from the keyboard into your existing audio interface instead of introducing a second audio interface. But, I'm sure there is a reason why you want to use both audio interfaces.
