*SOLVED* 1) On my 32 bit XP system using Sonar 8.3 Studio the Plugin Manager shows Dimension Pro but it does NOT show in the Insert Soft Synths dropdown. Why can't I use Dim Pro in 8.3 Studio? The Dim Pro web page lists no such restriction.

*UNSolved* 2) When using Dimension LE I keep getting a registration window. My store account shows no Registration for Dim LE, only Pro.

Also, Ive made no changes to the system to warrant a registration window from anything.
Thanks for helping!

Make sure in the Insert Soft Synths pulldown, you select Plug-In Layouts and select Default All Plugins.

Also, the first time you run Dimension, you have to be running as administrator (right click on the Sonar shortcut and select Run As Administrator). Then when you're in Sonar, launch Dimension LE. That seems a little strange as you shouldn't have to register Dimension LE.)

Do you have the latest update to Sonar 8.3?

Steve,
I think Dave's got it pegged with the Default All Plugins selection. DimPro (or any synth) won't show up in a custom layout until you put it there.
I've never had to mess with the Run as Admin thing under XP. I think that is Vista and later.
The registration prompt for DimLE is kind of weird. I don't recall ever having to register it.
My version of Sonar8 shows as 8.3.1.372.
DimPro1.5.
Is that what you see?

I'm just wondering if Dim Pro is not allowed for use in 8.3 STUDIO. It's web page states no such restriction.

I think it should work. I don't know if it came with 8.3 Studio, but it did come with Sonar 8 Producer. Check your discs. I believe Sonar 8 was still a disk not download version. If not, did you purchase Dimension Pro separately? As I recall the installation can be a little finicky. Try uninstalling and re-installing it. Make sure you Run As Administrator when running the installation. There is a DXi version and a VST. If you want both, you have to install the DXi from the disk and you have to run a VST scan on the VST after you tell Sonar where you installed it.

There is no such restriction.
I am running Sonar8 Studio, as well as the other versions listed in my signature. I can insert DimPro in any of them.

I did just discover this, though.
If the synth is not enabled as a plug-in in the plug-in manager, it will not appear in the selection list in your project.
Highlight DimPro in the plug-in manager.
The Plug-in Properties button should activate when you do this. Click it.
In the properties window that appears, make sure "Enable as plug-in" is checked. Click OK.
If I uncheck this box, I can duplicate what you are seeing.
Be sure that "Configure as synth" is checked while you are at it.
Let us know if that works.

Cool  RB! That was it! Dim Pro works now. Thanks, I would have never known to look for that.

Why Enable As Plugin wasn't checked is beyond me. Probably my fault when installing it.

And why I still get the Registration window when loading Dim LE is baffling.

You probably need to contact Cakewalk Support for this one.
