This one's got me stumped...

I did a file export for my mix and when I went to master it I found some vocal phrases were not played?!?

So I re-opened the project and first play of the area played without a particular vocal clip. I then clicked on the track in the clip pane prior to the spot and it played...?

So I did a new mix and once again it was missing a different clip's playback...

This happened a number of times... always with various vocal clips...?

This is a totally new and weird problem...

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with a plugin I'm using on these vocals... For this song I'm doing something a bit weird/eccentric/wrong(?)...

I'm running the output of 4 vocal tracks (a dual-octave lead vocal and some assorted harmony lines to it) thru the Sonitus Modulator to flange them all as one...

Not to be sidetracked into the effect I'm curious if anyone else has ever had this type of intermittent playback. It has never happened to me before...

Thanks...

Are you sure those vocals are routed to the master and not some other main output like 3/4 or 5/6?

Check your routing and see what you find. also your export source setting should be entire mix or main outs.

Thanks CJ...

Yes, I've very thoroughly examined all such... but they still don't explain why it should sometimes play and sometimes not.... and randomly on only these vocal tracks???

...and why it wasn't happening before? I'm hoping that in my attempts to solve other issues I have something hanging around...? tho I can't think of what would randomly select vocal clips.... so I'm thinking maybe there's something "wrong" that I
m not seeing....

Mix settings are as usual... and there's nothing in there that should cause a clip to play/not play other than (as you mention) chosing the correct output group....

So I will research this more later as I have a session already leate to show! ;-)

Much thanks again CJ...

Yes I am...

At one point I separated them into two groups (octaves in one and harmonies in the other) and fed them to two separate Sonitus Modulators on busses being fed via sends/pre.... that was where I was having the intermittent issue with vocal clips... So now I'm back to a single bus with The Sonitus Modulator followed by a Channel tools to reduce the width a bit... and the PC is using a CA2a then the PC's EQ set at E-Type and High Pass set at 144k/f12db/oct and an upper-mid boost of 1.8db@1.8k then followed by a Console Emulator (bus) set at zero... the tracks themselves have a PC76 followed by a high pass at 108Hz/12db/Oct and the Console Emulator set to N-Type with a 1.8 trim and gain...

I'm getting closer to a mix I can live with... Strange tho how sometimes I lower gain of instruments only to find more drastic peaks in the mix (with no other changes).... My guess? Something random in the Modulator?
