I know some are using control mix and I haven't been able to find info on the mix control buffers setting.  Is the ASIO buffer setting in control mix for playback or record buffers or both? I have it set for 256. In Sonar I have my playback and recording buffers at 256 also.  If I change my playback buffers in Sonar will that cause an issue with control mix?

Thanks

Never really thought of that. I'll check what setting I've got tomorrow. The big thing with 3.1 is though you shouldn't use the FireWire legacy driver any more. Cheers.

I'm fairly certain that there is only one ASIO buffer setting and it is controlled from Focusrite Control Mix.
If you click on the ASIO buffer button in Sonar preferences it opens Mix Control 3.1.
If you change the buffer setting in Control Mix and then open Sonar , Sonar will adjust to the change made in Control Mix.

I would love to see some screen shots of other peoples Mix Control.
I'm just curious to see others routing and metering settings.

I'm just not sure if I'm using it correctly and wonder if there's something I might not be doing correctly.

If I use the DAW monitoring everything in my headphones is quiet but if I use zero latency monitoring I hear a hiss as if I have a condenser mic plugged in and it's picking up room noise.

No Sonar does not follow the change you make in mixcontrol. At least for me. I changed the buffer in mixcontrol then opened Sonar and there was no change to the buffers. (playback or record) The ASIO button in Sonar does not do anything when clicked. I thought it would open mixcontrol but it doesn't. But the question is, the mixcontrol buffer is for playback? recording? or both? Sonar has a playback and record buffer settings, mixcontrol only one.

Are you looking at the buffers in Preferences under the Sync and Caching tab?
Those are disk streaming buffers.
If you go to the "Driver Setting " tab, the buffer size should match the Control Mix setting. This is your ASIO buffer size.
Click the button "ASIO Panel" should open control mix

Yes I was looking at in the Sync and Caching tab. You are correct, Sonar does change the ASIO buffer when making a change in mixcontrol. So, the ASIO buffers are for mixing latency? correct? The Sync and Caching playback and record buffers are for?  I do need a quick lesson on the use of these three buffer settings.

Thanks

I've actually never played with the Sync and Caching playback and record buffers. I've always left them at there default.
I'm not experiencing any issues. I always say "If it aint broke, don't fix it".

If I recall correctly, the Sync and Caching buffers are basically the time it takes a project to start or stop playing from the time you hit the play or stop commands.

For some reason I get better stability when they're set to 512. I guess my system resources need a larger cache to read from.

Even set at 512 I see no difference in the time it take a project to start playing, just more stable.
