This sounds great to me.  I think that you have captured that big sound that one would normally associate with a song of praise such as this.  The a cappella at the end is very nice indeed!!!

As, Herb has mentioned, this was an interesting and fun project to work on.  It reminded me a little of being in an actual band again.  It's always interesting to see how different players interpret the same piece of music and then watching a group of players come together and play as a unit.

Reese took the rein's as Producer for this one and did the final mixing for the project; as we fed him tracks through out.  Thanks to all for the comments and suggestions.  I hope we are close to being done with this one so we can move onto the next.

Herb - there are no hard feelings on my end.  we had differences of opinions, but we worked through it.  Peace to you, brother.

Nice work.  I especially like the harmonizing.

Jan - thanks so much!  we all worked hard on that A Cappella section!

A beautiful tribute to the big guy, great vocals, nice mix - good job!

thanks very much galtieribrothers!  we appreciate the listen and the comments!

Is it just me or is the lead vocal hard panned to the left?

Other than that it sounds very good Beagle, subject is not something I can comment on but musically it sounds well here.

Thanks for sharing.

He John,
None of us thought it sounded off center until yours and Robby's comments, so I went back to look at what possibly could be causing that perception to be made and I only found a few places where the widening tracks drifted back and forth across each other in volume throughout the song.  that would cause a slight lean to the left or right depending on which track was higher in volume at the time.  I think I've evened those out more now and I'll post a new version up soon.
thanks for listening and commenting!

This is really a nice bit of tunage. The vocals are really well done. I would put the lead vocal in the center though and surround it with the backing vocals.  I think your acoustic needs some work as your g string is making a funky sound.

Again, very well done! You sound like your having a lot of fun with it. To me, that's god. Not the myth.

thanks for your comments, Robby.  as I just told John, the off center was certainly not obvious to me, but I think I've resolved it and I'll post another revision soon.  thanks again!

I should already be at work today, so I'll responds to the rest of you later!  thank you everyone for the listen and the kind words!

Nice clear, punchy mix. Drums seem a bit fussy and complicated - some of the fills carry on into the next bar which I found distracting.

Acoustic guitar is really nice, as is the solo by Herb, tasteful phrasing. Vocalist is very good, but he seems a little overwrought from the get-go, might have built the song a little better if he'd held back at the start.

Accapella section is excellent. Good collab!

nice one Beagle - nice clear mix.
Maybe a bit hot on the drums - I think I heard some distortion a couple of times.
Great playing and performances by all.

First of all, thanks to everyone who took the time to listen and to comment. I appreciate it. Thanks for the kind words. This was a lot of fun and a lot of work. It was my second collab.

Singer sounds like Dennis DeYoung to me;)

I'll take that as a compliment. He's a good singer. I can't hit his high notes though. :D

Thanks for the compliment on the vox :). We lowered the key of the song because, at first, I really was straining from the get go. IIRC, Reece advised me to do just what you said--to hold back a little on the verses and let go on the choruses. I think the difference wasn't enough. You're right, I should have made it more dynamic. Good advice for future reference.

You must have a great ear! There was a problem with my guitar, which has (hopefully) been fixed by a luthier. Maybe it will sound better on the next recording.

glad you liked it Robert (IIRC).  as I said to John and Robby above, the vocals were centered, but the "widening' tracks might have been a little off.  I adjusted those, so hopefully it sounds more centered now.
thanks for listening and commenting!
RimshotReally nice job to all.  It sounds very good.   I like the acapella at the end.
Guitars could come up a tad IMO.

thanks Jimmy!  we appreciate the listen and the comments!
bapuAny comment I would make is all personal preference so I'll just say great job on this original tune.
thanks mate!  appreciate it very mucho!
markno999Nice job guys, good song..  I would bump that guitar solo up a db or two  and maybe bring that rim shot in the verses down a bit but otherwise sounds good.   The harmonies and the vocal breakdown at the end is pretty cool.  Singer sounds like Dennis DeYoung to me;)

thanks Mark!  I've looked at all of the suggestions everyone has given and have adjusted some things in the new mix which is up and available now!  appreciate it!
MarkusClinusThere is nothing I don't like about this - well recorded with a great message.

Wonderful.

thanks so much Mark!  we very much appreciate it!

I have uploaded a new version just now.  it's the same link as in the original post.  I've adjusted some of the things you guys have suggested, especially the lead vox.  they should be centered spot on now.  thanks all again for listening!!

This reminds me of the early Beatle stereo recordings with all the vocals on one side and the instruments on the other side, though not quite as severe.  Yet, the overall recording sounds reasonably balanced.  I feel the vocal could come up a bit throughout the verse because a song of praise needs to be upfront, imo.  Otherwise, this sounds joyous, and I can hear the devotion in this.  A few minor tweaks and this is a gem.
