Wow Freddie. that is one organized plug in layout!  I'm actually considering paying a homeless person to come organize my plug in folder.  I like the layout of PT, they are automatically organized.  Sure makes being lazy alot easier

I think and hope they add VST3 support + rewrite of Pro Channel and Console view to VST3 format.

VST3 in a point update?   That seems very unlikely to me....

(PS. but I'm OK being proven wrong  )

We have both worlds automatic or customization in SONAR.
I bet it will take +10 year before Pro Tools add that. They struggle just get it to run in Windows 7.
What was the last WOW-factor in Pro Tools. Whopping new technology be able to use 32bit files + realtime faders. WOW!! all other daws has more or less be able to do that in 15 years time. Pro Tools are years and years behind!

Still 32bit program and last DAW on market not be able to use more then 3GB RAM must feel 2013.

I'm hoping X2B will stop the asteroid collision happenning in the next hour. As always I'm happy to wait for X2B when it is ready and fully tested, it will come out soon enough. In terms of this kind of software actually no, it is not taking too long. I'd rather not see any enhancements to be honest until X3, other than take lanes (need of serious improvement) and ability to rename projects quickly within the UI.

"I don't expect to see X2b at all at this point in the release cycle"
Man I hope not!
Mod, are you really "tracking" in X2a?
Say it ain't so...
I'm a "follow the upgrade path" kinda guy.
BUT, X2a is definitely NOT ready for prime time; NO WAY, NO HOW!
Just my nickel 98.

tom

I'm using it in primetime,i dont get it?
was is that isnt primetime qualified?
theres a few small things here or there that iritate me but nothing..
and i mean nothing that stops me from using this as my main daw,24/7

your opinion is just as important as mine,so im not going to say, your wrong.
but i will say it seems theres been a lot of positive feedback.

sometimes i get using a version and i dont even bother with the patches, like x1c was to me.
x2a is running marvelous here.

heres my latest project with 22+ tracks still going,as you can see my perfermance module says 20% used..i only have 8 gigs.
funny thing is,my hard drive is almost full and i only have about 10 gb left...lol
still smooth though

Considering all the stuff that didn't get fixed and the new things they broke with the "a" patch they'd better be working on something. If we gotta wait for more than a couple more months I'll be looking at Cubase instead of upgrading to X3 next go around. I really don't want to do that but by that time I'm definitely gonna need something I can count on because I intend to be making some money off this stuff by then. If they get it up to X1d stability standards I can live with that.

I'm in the same boat, but I already know that I can't depend on Cubase either... It has it's equivalent share of issues.

That's my current dilemma. I use to count on Sonar... even with bugs it made my work easier and more productive than any of the others... Hands down...

Now? It still has the same underlying engine, but the new trappings of the X generation have fouled so many things... and improved a few, but the ratio is far heavier on the down side (for me)...

But the competition is no better... Sonar used to be better, but it's now coming down to level with the others instead of above them (for me)... So at this point I simply continue to use it because I'm familiar with it... I will not be any happier or faster with the competition's products or I would already have switched!

I've always loved Cakewalk's products and their' very devoted team.... But I still work in awe of many current decisions....

So I'm trapped between a rock and a hard place.... and I stay with Sonar and belly-ache as my work fills me with frustration instead of joy.... It's amazing how something others might consider good or not important, etc. can affect others.... <sigh>

As with the name of my most recently completed song...

Feelin' So Sad

Yes I am!

I've got a feeling we won't see anything by way of an update until the summer (Northern hemisphere)

There might be the odd plugin, PC module, loops & synth addons and suchlike.

But this is just speculation of course - I haven't a clue, as per normal.

I think there will be an update in the next 6 weeks or so.

Roland is a company that is famous for hi quality build products and they won't be happy with Sonar I don't think. Look at how beautifully the control pages for octacapture etc work compared to Sonar.

Please make a scrub tool that doesn't drop out, version after version, on different compters and soundcards.
