C'mon, Sharke, you know why....this release is buggy as siht.
i agree there needs to be some improvements;
like in this perticuliar case, sharke is right,i think the aim asst line isnt working as it should,it seems to drop the clip where you want it.
but the aim asst line seems to be off somewhere in the region of .004 - .0018. depending on your zooming properties.
i think its directly involved with smart snap somehow(just a guess) and should be addressed.

but taking pot shots at sonar isnt going to make you a better person james. It's also not going to fix your issues or mine.
exspressing your concerns in a productive manner will.

when i encounter an issue like this,i fill out a bug report.as im doing right now.
do i enjoy doing that? not exactly, but what are my options?
What am i going to do?

Chuck, he asked "why?" and I gave him the answer he already knew. Aim Assist used to work, and now it doesn't. That is the very definition of a bug. How is that taking any potshots at CW? I would say I have been a loyal customer of CW, own much of their software, and pay for upgrades every time. That gives me the right to express some disappointment over this latest bugfest of a release. Especially when I never really venture into this forum to complain.

are you really suggesting because you dont venture to this part of the forum that this somehow makes it right to drop in one liners, using words like that with two of the letters switched around?because when you say "especially" that's what it sounds like.

I read this thread, tried to share my concerns and then tried to do the most productive thing i could.
fill out a bug report.
Im not even going to begin to insult you by disagreeing with your concerns, only in which the manner you presented it.
i know your frustrated and i cant blame you.
but i also cant help but think if everyone leaves a post like that around here, where are we?
what gets done?i think cake watches this forum but they cant keep track of all the posts,so problems need to be reported.
you might think"they know about this" well,im not going to take that chance thinking they know about this/that.
im filling out a bug report.

im sorry james, maybe i should have just left this thread alone and let you blow off some steam, but i thought you did that in your thread "The viredict;X2 is not good and buggy as all heck". i can tell, you are still very displeased.
I even did my best to ask if you needed help in that thread and mentioned it more than once that i have a lot of respect for you.
i do.

The word in your post gives it a whole new meaning.
that word means "Waste"."Garbage","Throw away".
i dont feel that way.

sometimes in life two good people also disagree on something they feel strongly about.
im guessing this is one of those times.
i hope you didnt take anything ive said as being disrespectful.because i do respect you.
i just disagree with you on this one post.

strongly i stand but not stronger than you, just equally.

When moving anything in general, including the aim assist line, clips jump around weird, disappear some, land in wrong spot, and they don't line up nice visually half the time like Ableton where things move very elegantly.

That sounds like a description of the issues I'm seeing (admittedly not restricted to X2 as I have seen them in X1 too and occasionally before that version).  I posted about it here on the forums but surprised that no-one else is seeing this or admitting to it:
http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2786010

As usual I workaround these things, but I'd love to know if there's a way to minimize the issue.

I thinks it's something to do with the new fruity adaptive snap. It's like there is a ghost in the machine that changes the sanp settings when I'm not looking or when I change views or something. Along with the faulty scrub tool it is an annoyance.

Also, why does aim assist disappear when you go up to the timeline- what the hey?

+1000. That is a huge problem for me right now. There is simply no explanation of how or why, behavior-wise, this happens. Turning off the Smart Grid, turning it on, nothing seems to work.

Swear to God, I've actually sat here and watched the front edge of midi notes in PRV change ever so slightly before my eyes without so much as my hand on the mouse. I don't know if it's a screen refresh thing and the graphics are playing catch up to where the midi data actually is, or what's going on, but that's something new in X2a that I haven't noticed before. Maybe there's some kind of timing issue that's going on?

I don't send in Trouble Reports on each and every little thing I come across like this. I scour the forums and see if see others reporting similar problems to me before I send in anything. But, it seems like there's a concerted effort to stop that kind of open dialog and discussion here and it's not right.

You do indeed have your point of view, Chuck, as I have mine.

Frankly, I think you are getting a tad worked up about basically nothing. It seems half the threads on this forum have been about real honest to goodness problems that should have been caught in QA. It is not my job to fill out bug reports and make excuses for them. If I want to vent or even perhaps drop a snarky funny line here and there, its a free country.

Peace.

We Cakewalk employees have pretty fragile feelings and there are secret beta testers among you that work really hard to help us release solid products.  It''s cool to vent, but please be respectful while doing so.

I've logged this issue.  Fortunately, it's only a UI problem.  Events do snap to the correct location.  The Aim Assist report is just a few ticks off, and that is a bug we'll try to address.

Thanks.

I meant no disrespect, but your response kinda proves my point, no?
