  • Are these bugs or am I doing something wrong? Snap, Clone Track

Snap:
Sometimes it works, sometimes not! I drag a clip in track view with whole measures selected with "extreme" selected (why do we even need various degrees of strength of snap?) and it simply doesn't snap. Same in the PRV, I have to shuffle it around and eventually it might snap, if I'm lucky!

Clone Track:
Great feature to be able to copy all the attributes of a track and it's buss settings, but I ended up with 2 tracks/channels that were linked. (No, the clips weren't linked) Faders move together, Mute and Solo etc and there is no command I can see that will unlink them. (also not grouped) I had to insert another audio track, copy the clip over, reconfigure the channel and then delete the "cloned" track.
So much for a time-saving feature. Thanks for any input

and another one:
grid lines:
I open the PRV with the snap grid on, select vertical gridlines is active yet there are no vertical gridlines. I switch the grid off and the lines appear and then switch the grid on again so I can use the snap.

But I have a thought regarding your problem with cloning.  If you're cloning an instrument track, the same VST is referenced in the Synth Rack.  Since it's actually controlling just one signal, the faders and buttons appear "linked."  You can test this theory by right-clicking the cloned track and choosing "Split Instrument Track."  Then the clone will be a regular MIDI track with independent controls.

It would be helpful if you could elaborate on your snap issues a bit.

I have noticed if I have snap on to measure or whole note, when I zoom in it changes to 1/4 or 1/16 etc. I have not researched this, just kind of learned and adapted to that behavior. And I beleive Bill is correct, the only time I noticed tacks being "linked" from cloning is when I cloned a soft synth. confused me as well and eventually realized what was going on. I cloned it to create a backup copy of the track prior to editing, so in my case it didn't impact me as much.

Right-click on the snap value and uncheck "Smart Grid" to stop the snap value changing on zoom.

Snap:

I find it handy in the PRV when a light-ish level of snap allows me to place/move some notes exactly on the grid while others can be just off it for the "human" feel.

yeah.  i've reported that one and afaik it's being worked on.  it's funny that my original bug report about hotkeys not being able to change snap settings led to a fix in that and the gridlines changing when you use a hotkey to change snap settings -- but if you change the snap settings manually with the dropdown you have to turn snap off then on to see the gridlines change. D'OH!

@Swamptooth. Yes, but I haven't even set any shortcuts. It's very frustrating.
