the sb asio drivers are **** for low latency (no lower than 4ms) but m audio go lower and work better, maybe its my system, **** knows

For me Sonar won't allow the ASIO drivers and switches back to WDM. That might just be the Audigy series though. To use the chips Sound fonts I had to run in MME mode. The worst was tracks never lined up properly and projects would have terrible timing issues. I got so frustrated I returned to using my Yamaha MD8 and the Atari for another 4 years.  

Just for the record, my (modern) Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium HD works flawlessly in X2 with its ASIO drivers except that it usually doesn't wake up properly after sleep or hibernate (but then even Windows fails at times). I find it sounds great.
