hrm weird. The manual says "[style="color: rgb(70, 70, 70);"]During playback, the event list scrolls to display the events at the current time. The current event is centered in the Event List during playback, and the highlight is on the correct event when playback stops. " http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation/default.aspx?Doc=SONAR%20X2&Lang=EN&Req=EditingMIDI.44.html#1085014[style="color: rgb(70, 70, 70);"] when i hit stop the highlight was on the next event. i wasn't trying to verify where i was in the piece but looking into ways feed event list info and notes into external apps for processing and triggering real-time response algorithms.
I think the manual is incorrect, or you may be misinterpreting what it is saying. The manual might be implying that the scrolling stops in the center of the window, at the centered note, but the centered note is not the one last heard, but the one about to be heard. As far as what the event list reads when playback is stopped, it all depends on which option you've chosen, to stop at the current time, to rewind to start, or to rewind to the beginning of the time where playback began.
For noting the exact time of events either in SMPTE time or MBT time, use either the main display on the control bar, or use BIG TIME, the extra large time display. Of course the real accuracy of the display is wholly dependent upon the quality of your sound card.
