The event list only shows discrete events and only for note ON, not note OFF. There is nothing in the event list that can represent being in the middle of a note or group of notes, like the way notes are displayed on a timeline. If the timeline now time and its cursor is exactly at the starting time of a note or chord, the event cursor should be at that note or the first listed note of the chord. If it is between note ONs, instead of pointing at one of the note ON events that already passed, it points to the next event. Thinking about the general case of chords or non-parallel voicing, is there really anything else to reasonably point to? If note OFFs were displayed also, I would still expect the cursor to point to the next event, not a prior event.
