The forum doesn't belong to a handful of sycophants telling people what to they can and can't say all the time.

.....Cakewalk should send a message that it's not tolerated.

Couldn't agree more.

I don't agree. The title of the forum informs what the discussion is about. An open discussion is better in the Coffee House.

This forum traditionally is for helping Sonar users. It has also been used as a way to inform CW of wishes and features by its users. Even though they have a form for that. I never believed it was meant by CW to bash its products incessantly.

Or to attack those wanting to point out how well it does work. Yet that is what is happening by a few members.

I agree that its a shame a poster may feel the need to make an apology even before he asks a question.

Perhaps re-reading this link might do some folks a little good:

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and you're all welcome to voice them, but the moment the conversation evolves from a debate about perception/individual experiences/competitors offerings/etc. to a thread centered around personally bashing other forum members and direct slams against Cakewalk and Cakewalk staff, you've crossed the line.

.........

With that being said, if someone DOES actually want a hand getting SONAR to perform optimally, everyone is welcome to post a thread about their experience and reach out to the community for suggestions. A number of users here have extended the invitation in a very polite way. You're also welcome to give Cakewalk a call and we'll assist.

Even if you're not here to get help but want to discuss how you feel about SONAR X2, we've always welcomed that and have never been into shutting down opinions that might differ from ours or be hard to swallow. You might be surprised to learn that a ton of people on staff here at Cakewalk know all of the "other DAWS" forwards and backwards and have a pretty good idea of the overall state of the product's stability in comparison to competitors, as well as what cool new tech is coming out from other companies as well. Like our friends here in the community, we care a lot about SONAR as well and are constantly working on improving it and raising the bar. We tend not to participate in discussions like this because we really don't have much place in the debate, but it doesn't mean we don't care what people think, whether it be a very vocal minority or not.

It doesn't get any better or more clear than that.  Thanks again Ryan.

In the old days this thread would fall like a wet turd down to the basement with a loud wet plop! I used to feel sorry for the denizens of the coffee house that they got abused this way. It did not seem fair to such a jolly bunch.  But all is good now and these threads seem to stay put. Must be lack of moderator staff due to the cutbacks.

I think that if folks cut back on the use of adjectives, it would help.  :)

"You are a soppy puss-bucket" may be how one feels, but expressing that as "I respectfully disagree" might be a little less apt to fire up the flame wars.  I just try to stick to a mixture of technical information and when I do express an opinion I try to indicate that it is my opinion and not some generally accepted truth.

I thought he was worried that people here would get angry with him for wanting to try out another DAW... Oh well..

But I agree, the tone on the forum has gone a bit sour. And it seems that Sonar isn't the cause of all the bickering anymore. It's taken a not-so-good-turn lately.

I'm back in lurk mode mostly, there is still some good entertainment and great ideas among the noise

I think this thread is in poor taste and you should be ashamed of yourself for starting it.

The only bad question is the one not asked.

Why is it poor taste?  The only point was that I felt bad for Jorel in that he felt like he had to apologize for asking a question and I didn't want to hijack his thread to say it.

I agree with you wholeheartedly when you say: "The only bad question is the one not asked"

We've just had some bad trolls recently....

Just the way forums go...

C'est La Vie.

Lets ignore them and back to constructive lovliness.

Hello,
afa I can understand, this ( upset) was meant as a term of politeness.

I guess simply Jorel wanted no discussion about Sonar or another DAW,
but simply the technical question.
If english is not your first language, it´s due to use a dictionary and the word
upset has really different meanings.
I think this discussion is strict that ,
jorel wants to avoid.
It´s good to read that many of you take care about the atmosphere in this forum,
has changed a bit to the crazy side the last weeks.
thanks
Pragi
