To sum it up...I think people that post questions about other DAWs etc....post them because our forum really does have dudes that know what they are talking about. We really do have some experienced people around here. If you ask a question, 7 out of 10 times you're going to get more than you bargained for with advice that is tried and tested from "several in the know".
I know each forum for a DAW has its smart people....but we on this forum, in my opinion, are the blessed ones. I sure wouldn't hold too much credibility in answers given on other forums. They are usually a free-for-all of people that THINK they know what they're talking about. The difference here, we only have a select few that THINK they know what they're talking about where the majority here, has a clue.
As for the forum tone....try to ignore anything that comes by way of a rant that isn't delivered like a human being with consideration or "voice for the sake of a voice". I seriously believe some of the people doing that have been planted here by our competition. Sonar is a great DAW and can be a spectacular DAW with the right TLC and direction. It may not be quite where we want it, but hopefully all the changes made within the company will make a difference for the better.
Regardless of the forum tone, this is still the best DAW forum on the planet, is 8 times out of 10 just as good as Sonar tech support for fixing problems, for advice, as well as a few darned good, genuine human beings. Just ignore the bots (as I like to call them) posting here to get attention if you can. :)
No one should feel the need to apologize for asking a question nor should they feel they need to tread softly. If a person came on and said "Sonar sucks, what else do you guys recommend?" well, that's just a poor delivery and doesn't really deserve any answer just like I wouldn't expect an answer if I posted a question of that nature on the Avid forum.
At the end of the day, people are going to use the forums the way they see fit. Some for entertainment in a good way, others in a bad way to just get a rise out of others who may be a bit more serious, some are here to learn, some to teach, some to help with Sonar problems. Just about all of us fall into 1 or some of those categories. It is what it is....if something looks or sounds ludicrous, shake your head and move on if you can. The more attention we give to people trying to ruffle feathers, the more it brings the forum down for everyone.
