FBB nailed it. I also have a Mackie Control and all that he said is true. But I have had one for a very long time. I had a Studio Mix before the MC. I don't know how people use any DAW without one. Or for that matter a Video program.

Although I think its a huge advance I don't think its going to totally replace the hardware control surface. I believe it may slow sales of the hardware units but I sure wont give mine up anytime soon. I do think it could prove an asset and augment a CS in a complimentary way. 

Only time will tell. 

For me, I can see me using a touch screen for pressing buttons but I can't see me getting on with faders and knobs. I'd also need a screen that is horizontal, reaching out to touch a main viewing screen seems to take away all of the convenience of a touchscreen for me, not to mention my arms would need to grow several feet.
