another thing to keep in mind is when applying an update sometimes sonar will reset default settings.this is exspecially true when it runs the wave profiler again.

if you have made any adjuments to latency, driver type, buffer settings
its worth taking another glance at these particular settings.

Rolling back from a quickfix.

That should be Version 19.0.0.306 in the backup folder. There have only been two patches and there are two backups. Just wondering.

This backup system started with X1 if I remember correctly and was meant to allow a return to the previous install without having to uninstall and reinstall.

Either it is working or it isn't. Thus I wonder what Ryan is talking about.

IDK, I applied the quick fix when it came out and X2a when it came out. I only have one entry in "SONAR X2 Producer/Backup" 10212012/Version_19.0.0.306. Could other entries be related to some of panu's work? So much stuff gets changed in an update like X2a, simply replacing the SONARPDR.exe would not seem to be enough.

You may be right scook but I don't recall modifying X2.  The date is 11/17/2012 so you may be on to something. However I still wonder why if its true why we need to uninstall and then install the older version if CW created a backup system to prevent having to do this?

I don't think CW ever provided a rollback process for anything other than quick fixes. Even then the rollback was a manual process, CW just copied off the SONAR executable. At least, I can't recall a more elaborate rollback process and fortunately have never needed to back out an update myself.

Scook I think you are right about all of this.

Being of a curious nature I thought I'd check to have a look at my backups folder - and there isn't one!

I only have X2a 64 bit installed on this machine, but there' no backup folder.

Just to confirm, I'm looking in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Sonar X2 Producer

There is one SONARPDR.exe
