I am having a bit of trouble finding this information. I used to hold down the shift key in order to prevent a clip from moving forwards or backwards on the time line as I moved it from one layer to another or from one track to another.

The aim assistant strikes me as quite cludgy and it takes forever to get it right. Every time i move something it takes about 3 tries and 2 undo's before I can live with it.

Is there a hotkey I am missing that glues the clip to its appointed time?

Thanks for all your help.

Shift + Drag should work the same in X2.

Perhaps it is my system, but Shift + Drag allows me to move a clip anywhere on the time line I feel like it. There is no difference between shift and no shift. But I am unable to find anything in the documentation that claims the Shift + Drag feature still exists.

My mother board is an Asus P868 Deluxe/Gen 3. Running Windows 7 64bit with 16 GB of RAM.

Maybe the binding got disabled? And it is in the manual somewhere because it's in my notes (I checked before posting) which are all drawn from the manual. I don't know, what update version are you using? I'm on build 308 and it works (but maybe I'll test it again later when I'm in front of the DAW). Maybe contact support. There seem to be a couple bakers poking around the forum today too so maybe they'll stop in.

Oh and can you try using the shift key on the other side of your keyboard? Maybe you keyboard is going wonky. Long shot but it's worth testing.

Cheers.

Also if it's a fancy keyboard that requires drivers (like a wireless) perhaps check for any updates.

It seems to work just fine in X1, just not in X2.

I'll try it out later when I've got my DAW running. They did change some keybindings. Try holding Alt instead but like I said my notes say Shift + Drag is still the way to do it. I may have made a mistake though. Cheers.

Also like I said I am on build 308. What version are you on? X2a? Maybe it's a new bug. If you haven't updated at all try the Quickfix or the a patch (I'm on the Quickfix).

I found that if you move left or right before you you drag up or down down this can happen,
Just make sure you move vertically first, to allow the lock to take hold.
I reported this "bug" a while ago, nice to see someone else having it happen.
