Electronic Musician…
"A quick glance at the Cakewalk forums find most users are not only very pleased, but calling X2 the smoothest rollout yet.”

Yeah! Right! Can someone please direct me to this other forum that Craig Anderton is talking about please, because I only know of this forum.

That's so far out in left field, I'm flabbergasted. I honestly don't even know what to say.

It had to be one hell of a quick glance, at one post, by only one poster that I can think of.

"X2 is the smoothest rollout yet!"

- Sharke

I quite literally just said that just now, just before I read this post. Sorry to have to break that to all the naysayers.

I think he is accurate in that statement. Remember that if you look closely most threads are more or less how to do something. Their are those that will post in any thread their displeasure but they are much the same people.  Then we had a troll attack that has been cleared up. I think you can already see a major difference in the tone of posts.

I'm not saying that X2 is without flaws but at this time after X1 one was released it was far and away worse on this forum.

Measure it that way I think Mr. Anderton is right. I think he filtered out all the noise and is reporting what is left. The noise being trolls and a few unsatisfied customers.

Even those that have said they like X2 bash it. Its hard to figure out for the casual forum member what is really going on. Couple that with a wish for better forum software and its easy to see discontent almost everywhere.

Yet I see plenty saying how much they like it and others saying how trouble free it has been for them. I am not discounting the few left with real problems they just are not as many as one may be lead to believe.

Bub... I thought you would get a chuckle out of this, "left of field" how true!

I think this is empirical evidence that a parallel universe exists indeed.

I like the new X series.  I like many of the new features and updates.  BUT...X2 is not a stable release like, say, 8.5 was.  Not by any means.  It has all kinds of quirky bugs and anomalies.  For many folks.  I've chosen (so far) to work through them as I usually do.  But I certainly hope that X "whatever" gets more stable and usable.  Mine seems to be inhabited by devilish gremlins that hate me.  Go figure.

The problem with all of this is, you can't dispute the man without coming off like an a**hole.

We all know his article isn't accurate ... but if you say anything, then you're the bad guy, know what I mean?

There's another 'review' article floating around out there. If I find it, I'll post it. He made a comment to the effect of how vocal this forum is. It was when X1 came out. So, other reviewers see it ... the fact that Craig sees it, but chooses to ignore it ... well, that's his prerogative.

And even John, with his reply ... I mean ... just read it. When you sit there and blame the negative threads on people who don't know what they are doing, disgruntled consumers, trolls, and people that say they like it but bash it, and those who can hardly even post here because of the crippled forum software ... well ... who's left? You've pretty much singled out the entire forum with the exception of a few guys that I could count on one hand. WTF John? LOL!

And what about the people that moved on? Oh yeah, let's forget about them. Everything's unicorns and rainbows with moon shadows and stardust glitter with flashing purple neon fireflies.

LOL.

Has anybody forgot the grief of X1, when most of us were complaining we couldn't find the space bar in the new model DAW?  Everybody was complaining about basic stuff - shortcuts changing, where the hell is the meter options, everything Cake moved around.  In comparison, x2 is a smoother rollout.

Plenty of bugs and anomalies and nonsense in X2 - actually more than in X1 for me.  But nothing showstopping and certainly not as aggravating as X1.

That is how I see it, anyhow.
