Hey Chuck ... not sure what to say man.

You posted on a public forum, I thought I knew you well enough to where I could respond to you ... but you melted down bro, so apparently I was wrong.

You need to chill out.

And I have to be honest with ya, you're command of the English language ain't exactly up to par bro. It's sometimes hard to interpret what you mean ... I could point you to a thread ... but who cares?

Who ****ing cares?

It's a forum ... quit complaining and go make some music. You're good at it.

I'm not mad at you ... I'm not mad at anyone here ... I speak my mind, if you don't like it ... block me. It's that simple.

Hey Bub,

Who the heck gave you permission to post?

No Post For You!!!
Now that is funny!

The demo even worked on my machine without any key issues that became apparent during the trial period.  It certainly worked well enough to be able to identify some of the same loose screws that 8.5 has and even well enough to decide there wasn't anything compelling enough to make a purchase just yet.

I'm glad you posted this Jon. There seems to be a widely held belief that 8.5 was completely stable and totally bug free.

That wasn't the case and I lost a fair bit of stuff due to random crahses, BSOD's and suchlike.

It's just a progression of the very same DAW!

You missed the point, some of the loose screws in X2 are the same ones that have managed to escape being fixed since 8.5.

That's not to say there ain't plenty of new ones either.

They don't release a NEW DAW every cycle, they cut bits out, add new bits and old bugs remain, new ones get introduced then we go through another whole development cycle where many of them eventually get fixed and the release becomes relatively stable only for the whole cycle to repeat itself.  Many niggles and issues survive the process and migrate through version to version.

Too many of them for me to think it is of sufficient quality to purchase yet.  It is the area of quality that became so frustrating to me that I stopped upgrading until it got seriously addressed.  My software maintenance spend currently goes to vendors that deal effectively with the quality issues involved in producing content creation software and ship robust product.

I'm so familiar with the bugs in 8.5 to the point I use workarounds that I don't even remember they are workarounds anymore.  Hence I get very few nasty surprises by now.

That is the only reason I'm still a happy Sonar user, I love the program and use it daily.  If I'd have gone through the heartache that's been apparent here and on the forums where ex-Sonar users turn up since X1 arrived I'd have given up by now too.

No, I don't think I missed the point - I was agreeing with you that 8.5 wasn't as bug free as many users seem to imply.

And it would be extremely naive for anyone to believe that new versions are built from scratch.

We've seen the same bugs apparent from at last version 6 right through to X2, but most of them (for ME) have a perfectly acceptable workaround.
