I just bought a new Toshiba laptop that came with Windows 7 64-bit. So, I installed the 64-bit version of X1 .... wow! I encourage anyone who does any recording to start using 64-bit.

I went to 64-bit operation with Vista (please, stop laughing) and never looked back. It bugged me that I couldn't ReWire and that both Waves and UA plugs were 32-bit, but I just held tight until they caved and went 64-bit. 32GB of RAM and 64-bit operation is a beautiful thing.

I wonder if the 64-bit angle is why software (not just X2) runs so reliably on my computer.

I've just gone 64 on my ageing computer and added another 4 gig of ram, so far it's looking good, only a few plug in losses (still enough for my needs).

I dunno. With an i7 Quad core and 16gb ram there seems to be little "multitasking" going on here. Some basic processes still hog the whole system it seems.

I first went x64 with V7 and XP x64 (yes please do laugh at my stupidity). Nightmare......drivers etc.

Upgraded to Windows 7 x64 and haven't looked back since.

Some programs do not multitask well.  Are you noticing this just in Sonar or in general with your computer?  If you are having trouble you may want to start a thread perhaps the forum can help you sort it out.

New system is running 64-bit, but the old system is still running 32-bit and still works perfectly. So I'll keep it around for various tasks... no need to get rid of it just cause it's getting old.
