Hi,

Hmmmm .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_OtfstmDgo

Nice. Not great, I don't think, but very nice specially as it is going towards the end!

Good find Pedro, I like it. Apparently he wrote it 'a few years ago' and released it after Ali's death. From the production it sounds like an outtake from the 'Up' album, which would make it 14 years old. Time he wrote something brand new I think.

Reminded me more of his second album with hints of Up.  I agree James some new material would be interesting to hear.

The most recent stuff I've been listening to was the New Blood Orchestra. Gabriel doing Gabriel covers. Still good stuff and so much better than much of the mainstream, IMO of course.

That's just like ol Pete.  Gabriel doing Gabriel covers.  He just can't seem to break free of his "signature sound" when producing.  Also...and here's hoping this really was written for the Great One...the title pretty accurately describes the author's feelings about his own self.

I've got a couple DVD's of his live shows and I can't help thinking he'd make a great cult leader - lol!

I'm not sure PG is up to new material. I still have, somewhere, the Melody Maker interview of his, when he left Genesis, and how disappointed he was with the over all response to TLLDOB, which, as time has gone by, has come to be appreciated more and more, and is already considered one of Genesis, best works all around, in the Progressive boards.

My take, is that with that, he became a bit too sensitive to people's likes and dislikes and the top ten world, with hits and such, and of course, when he made 10 times the money with a couple of his own pieces, now he is likely battling what he should/could do.

My thoughts are that he should stop thinking about lyrics for a while, and just compose free as you like, and see what comes of it. I'm not sure that he can think outside of his own box right now, and is too ingrained in his own fame.

I'll still take Peter Hammill any day of the week. He is still creative and impulsive and out there and always a nice listen. I think PG believes he has to be "involved" in things that are cool and right on. I like to say he just didn't grow up!
