I know. I should just put him back on block like 'that other one'.

I guess we can talk about being hemmed in by one's style viz those guys.  I mean really, what's it like to be defined by one's own style?  How suffocating it must be.  On point: su-su-studio.  WTF?!  Phil Collins got drunk one time in the studio and started stuttering the lyrics?  I can safely ass-ume that Craig understands.

...
Where exactly did I, or anyone else say that? I never said anything about his keyboard skills compared to your oft-mentioned favorite players either. I don't know where you dream up this nonsense.
 ...

I merely stated an opinion via a comparison. Obviously, you did not like the "comparison" ... and I bet it has more to do with pop music, than somewhat more challenging and serious music that my examples tended to create.

I have never disliked TB, or Genesis, or PG. Of all the solo albums by any of them, I find that Anthony Phillips is far more interesting than any of them, although I have to say that Steve Hackett is doing a lot of very nice stuff as well. My list of CD's by those two is immense, and surpasses the others.

If you believe all opinions are non-sense, you might take a look at yours, as well?

I'm not sure that a "keyboard skill" has anything to do with music itself. There are many folks that know all the keys and all the switches, and they have no soul behind them to carry them through and to ME, the proof is in the originality and the music design and work. After a while a song is just a song, and a pre-fabricated process and design, and for my tastes, I fell out of that process a long time ago.

I can enjoy a song just as well, but my real satisfaction? In the music itself, and not just a teasing moment, as most songs tend to show us ... thus, I happen to like longer things, and sometimes they may be conceptual and sometimes they might not be ... but they show some variety and talent, that most musicians are afraid to try and tackle. That's why they come back to the "song". It's easier, and everybody "knows" it.

But for me, PG is like so many folks out there ... mainly copying what they have done before. It's still nice, but not special for my tastes.

Is there really such a thing as the "new" Peter Gabriel?

Good point. Earlier today, I was listening to the first Ein Deutsches Album, German lyrics and remix of his 3rd album; he also did a German version of his 4th and gave it the same name. See, even his album names are "old" (recycled!).

Heck, his first four solo albums were all self-titled.  Even when he DID start giving them titles, he certainly was economical with the number of letters used!
