Well it seems to be working better now - but I'm not really sure what I did

I changed some Snap to Grid settings and also edited some other envelopes (instead of just track volume) and after that when I tried editing the track volume automation the bump was smaller.

And If I get in the habit of just using the Line Tool I can always quickly just move the endpoints of the line and this dumbass problem just becomes part of the work flow.

Don't like it but It's moving into the manageable part of the universe.
