  • Anyway Quick and Easy Way to Tell if a Plugin is 32bit or 64bit?

Instead of using the plugin manager and checking the properties of individual plugins (which takes a long time and is fiddly for multiple plugins) is there a way to tell if a plugin is 32 bit or 64 bit from within Sonar?

I used to think it was indicated by the dots underneath the plugin name, but I suspect those dots represent mono (one dot) and stereo (two dots), is that correct?

That's only true if you use the "Default All Plug-ins" menu layout.  Doesn't work that way for custom menus.

That is true, when you use custom layouts you takeover responsibility for naming the entries. 64bit SONAR has no control over custom layouts.

Hi John,

Could you post a screen shot? I'm looking at my X2a tracks & FX bins with mixed 32/64 plug-ins side by side and can't see a difference. Maybe I'm just not looking at the right thing.
Thanks.

He is referring to the plugin GUI. By default in 64bit SONAR 32bit VST plugins are wrapped with BitBidge. When you open the plugin, the GUI will not have the normal VST header. To view the normal VST header, hold down shift when double clicking the plugin in the bin. You may have to move the plugin window out of the way to see it.

Ah, thanks.

The one on the right is 64 bits the one on the left is 32 bits. Notice the texture in the left plugin bar just below the title bar? The 64 bit plugin is smooth in that bar.
