So I saw this neat new keyboard by Roland. And I wondered. I own a lovely Roland RD-150 wich I adore. It's simple and I use it because of it's wonderfull keybed. Still moved whenever I touch the keys..

Now I saw the new VR-09 does the organ thing really well. So it's on my list. To play an organ you usually use pedals and two keybeds... Can Sonar be configured to midify the whole thing together so I have this amazing organ thing going? Anyone here with experience?

Thanks for your experience...

you want to play pedals, lower and upper  manuals all at the same time using the VR09 engine and possibly its keyboard?

There is a discussion on this board over on Keyboard Central, I think it has midi inputs for a lower manual and pedal board. you could use the rd150 midi out as one of the manuals, you still need a pedal board..

I have NI B4II and simulate lower and upper manuals with an 88 key controller split at C4 outputing two different midi channels on the respective zones for the lower and upper manuals

maybe this??

VR09 Local off Midi out -----------  midi interface or merger in  port 1    interface out----- sonar
rd150 midi out ---------------------- midi interface or merger in port 2 ---
pedals midi out ---------------------midi interface or merger in port 3 ----

midi out---------- vr09 midi in

set Sonar midi in tracks to respective midi interfaces (or the one merger output) set midi out to your vr09

Maybe a fcb1010 for pedalboard. Or a new Roland pedalboard...

Now people here assume to use a softsynth and the VR09 as a controller. Well I have a Korg Kontrol49 and the fcb1010, RD150 and Kontrol49 connected to a UM880. So the organ thing can happen like that allready... But the tactile interface of the VR09 looks interesting. And well ... to be able to take the VR09 out on a gig is calling aswell. As the RD150 is way too heavey for that... (23KG's or so)

Nobody uses a V-combo like that in combination with Sonar X2? I'd be interested how the whole thing records midi like that. Because of the two channels of midi involved. Maybe with a map for the different tracks...
