Hi all. I have a little problem with recording. I am using Sonar 8 producer and Fl studio 10. I have made a drum pattern in Fl and I want to record that in Sonar. I have manage to set up fl as a vst in sonar and I can hear the beat playing when I hit the play button in sonar. When I try to record it I can see and hear the track but when I stop I have no recorded track. I can`t see no signs of it recording ether. Can anyone please tell my how to set up this the right way. I think I have missed something here. I am new to this so I am not a pro. Thanks. Tommy

Thank you but I don`t think that will work, I can`t use that command, it does not record the track. I have now try to rewired the FL into sonar (FL) is the client. I can start the pattern in sonar by hitting the play button in sonar, I can hear the sound play. But when I try to record the sound from FL nothing records. A little summary: in Sonar 8. when I hit the record button I can hear the sound, When I stop the record the track is empty, nothing has bean recorded.

Don't know what to tell ya, Tommy. I've only used rewired audio processors (as opposed to MIDI-driven instruments) such as Melodyne, in which case the plugin looks like any other audio source to SONAR. You treat the incoming audio from the slaved host as if it had already been recorded on that track. But I know there are many users here who use Reason, which I think should be similar to what you're trying to accomplish.

Of course, you could always simply render the drum track in FL Studio and import it into SONAR. Or simply save the MIDI file in FL, import that into SONAR and drive Session Drummer with it.

Ok. I see, I don`t want to import audio from Fl. I use Fl as a rewire client in sonar 8 but how do I record the sound from it? Don`t anyone know this ? it`s like if you are rewire reason, it`s the same thing, how do I set up the channels for it. I have try to look for it on the google and the youtube but I can`t find anything about that part. Do I have to use buses or something ? When I rewire FL it also create a audio track, When I enable record and start the record session nothing is recorded. I hear the track from FL but it does not record anything. I just wonder if I have done this the right way about the setup or something. Do i need a bus or what.

Is this MIDI or audio? If its MIDI, then just export the MIDI from FL and then open it in Sonar. If its audio, then export the WAV file from FL and import it into Sonar. 

Okay guys, thank you so much for your answer. With some tryouts and some bad moments I finally found out how to do this so here we go. in my case I am using Sonar 8 and Fl studio 10 and vista 32. I started out by created a new blank project in sonar. then I started by adding 3 buses, one Master, one FX Send and one bus that I named Drum bus. Since I`m gonna use Fl only with my drums I named the bus after that. Okay.. Now, start by adding a new VSTplugin and select Fl studio vsti. A box will pop up, make sure you select "simple instrumental track" and hit ok button. a new track and the Fl box will pop up. but if you see, you have no record button at all on this track but that`s ok. now, add a new audio track under the fl track. and now we have a record button :) This is what we are gonna do. Fl instrumental track : Select Fl studio sterio on input, and drum bus on output. The audio track : Set your soundcard sterio on input and drum bus on output. The drum bus: Set output to master. You don`t need this but I like to have the the finally adjustment on all tracks in the end. maybe I wanna do some effect adjustment on the drum track but in that case I wanna do it on the track itself. But the main effects on the drum track I will do in Fl studio. When you are happy with your drums, you just armed the record options on the track and hit record, fl will start to play the track and sonar will record it. you are done. You can also finish the track in Fl studio and export the track as a wave and just slide into the empty track in sonar but I don`t wanna do that, I want to control the Fl from the sonar.
