"you make take our lives, but you'll never take our freedom"

...which is all well and good, but 'being dead' kind of takes the edge off the 'freedom' bit, eh?

Had a little weekend break in Perth last year Chris, really nice city. Found an excellent Indian restaurant, 'Tabla'.

Happy 4th! The "war" is heating up early here. Gunshots from 12 am for at least two hours. Some people just don't get it.

I hear more gunshots here than I did in the military. Apparently there is some kind of new city ordinance that bands fireworks. I have seen or heard any. However I do hear gunshots a lot. Sometimes simi auto fire. I Am used to it now

The only holiday that leaves me optimistic about the future. Christmas, meh. That just teaches kids to be good consumers. But the 4th, that's the day when a hundred million dads thumb their collective noses at the government and teach their kids how to blow stuff up illegally. When we make peace with Native Americans by handing them large quantities of cash for said illegal explosives.

At least, that's how we celebrate it here Out West.

Me, I smoke a joint, plop into a lawn chair and watch the neighbors' incendiary displays, garden hose at the ready to defend my home.

Sounds very Canadian. Canada day and the 4th are always on the same weekend. I could see hundreds of displays from my balcony this year. My own celebrations are much like yours Dave. I'm now a passive observer rather than an active participant.
