Just updated my operating system to win7 x64 from the 32 bit version. seems mostly o.k. on my ageing machine except for the now time line jerking about a bar at a time, music plays in time despite this.
I think it's the video card driver problem, but there are no fresh drivers just the microsoft wddm version. it's a Radeon x1050 card searches reveal no drivers for win7 but it worked fine on 32 bit.
So do I need a new card ????.
If so any recomendations for a dual head PCI-E card.
Thank peaple.

I know there is a Preference setting that will lower the Graphics priority, which will make the now-time jerky, but I would assume this: Watching your CPU in the DAW GUI, if the Now time marker is jerky, but the audio is fine, and the CPU doesn't spike to above 80%, then I suspect the video driver, yes.

Try pressing the "Pause|Break" key (upper right) on your keyboard.

Sounds like a good band name.

I thought that something with adjusting a playback buffer helped with this - I think FastBikerBoy had made posts about that some time ago.

I have to run out the door - maybe someone else recalls this?

It's because the pause key is pressed, almost certainly.

You guys are absolutely right it's the pause break key. whats that all about just checked the shortcut list cant see pause used for anything. but it works and you guys saved me buying a new video card. Much appreciated.

That pause key thing has gotten me many times.  My biggest complaint against Sonar is all the shortcut keys: there are lots and if you bump one and don't know which one you hit, you can go nuts trying to figure out what's wrong.
