Other observations: 1. mute cannot be quick grouped in Console View for a simple instrument track. 2. PC on/off cannot be quick grouped in Track View for a simple instrument track. 3. Sends cannot be quick grouped for a simple instrument track in both views (the selected track wont even change)

SIT have been improving ever since they were introduced but I still do not use them.

they are really helpful in reducing clutter, but the inability to change audio inputs (say to a l/r mono output from the synth), and lack of interleave button is annoying.

Yup some like them and are willing to put up with their quirks. Folders of audio and midi don't bother me. It is nice to have the choice.

I'm not sure what's going on but they all work as intended here. Is this just one project or all projects?

Off topic here, just curious what "quirks" people are finding in Simple Instrument tracks?  I havent done the 'old way' since Sonar 7.

Well for one you don't have access to the full range of controls like you do with split audio/midi

When they were first introduced they were exTREMELY buggy (for me) and I had a hell of a job getting one of my projects back to normal after they totally screwed up the track numbering scheme.

There were discrepancies between Track & Console view, gaps would appear in Track view where the "missing" tracks should have been. It was a mess.

But I haven't seen this behaviour in X2. I don't use them regularly, but I'll use them sometimes, when testing or debugging for other people.

Like now, for instance.
