What's the difference between the compressor we get in x1 the bus compressor and the channel compressor we can buy ?

We get a bunch of compressors in Sonar X1/X2. Ever since X1 I have not use any third party compressors. I am most likely to rely on the PC in Sonar. I have all the add on modules for the PC.

I think the OP is talking about the S-type Pro Channel comps. I haven't found a use for the S-type channel comp (modelled on the built-in channel comp in an SSL desk). It's too simple and and limited for sensitive tasks does not contribute to the sound in a cool way like the PC-76 pr PC2A. I prefer the Sonitus compressor since it has a great display and intuitive parameters. 

The S-type bus comp (modelled on the built-in bus compressor in SSL desk) is cool for gentle compression as well as pumping effects, also on tracks! I like it, but for some reason I get better results with Cytomic "The Glue", which is modelled on the same hardware.

I use the SSL type compressor on the master bus on all my tunes. I don't hit it hard, just 2 dB. It does a great job of gluing the tracks together.

What I am looking for is a compressor that can side chain with massive response , I will be producing dance music , so say a clap kicks in then the kick ducks underb?

Any advice ?

There are three compressors supplied with X1 Producer capable of sidechaining: the Sonitus Compressor, the Vintage Channel VC-64 and, PC4K S-Type Bus compressor. Unless you are running X1 Producer Expanded you cannot run the PC4K S-Type channel compressor or any of the other PC modules that are sold separately. There are however quite a few third party compressors that sidechain at a variety of price points.

FYI, the Sonitus Gate that comes with X1 Producer can also sidechain. Just in case you need a more dramatic effect.

This video by Cakewalk demonstrates using the PC4K S-Type to sidechain.  Look from 4:30 onwards for your needs.

As scook says, the Sonitus Gate is also very good. It gives you better control with its hold time allowing you to ,in essence, create your own 'pump envelope'. It is crash prone though with heavy fiddling (the sidechain dies and it stops pumping) so regular saves and template making is advised.
  As you already own both of the above compressors I see no harm in recommending you have a look at 'Vengeance Multiband Sidechain' if you don't already know of it. It's built to do this one thing only, which the aforementioned comps aren't really, and it gets rid of the constant need for 'sidechain management' and the need for trigger tracks (it syncs to host) which I always found got in the way of the creative flow.
