Hi Cakewalk..

Please send out an anonymous survey to your customers so you can find out their thoughts.   Many of us really like this company, and would like to see Sonar X3 become something we upgrade too.

I am sure like many people, I have some thoughts about the software, but I am not going to express them in the forum.

You can ask several questions on your survey, and find out how people feel about the look, the feel, the performance, and what direction they would like to see the software go in.

IMHO, this is very important.

Meh. Too much whargharble. A survey is a good idea but to really make sure they get a good cross section of everyone they should offer a store credit to registered customers after filling it out (and ONLY let registered customers fill it out). Otherwise you'll just end up with the angry people like we get here. I've got a ton of ideas and bugs to report but I just can't be arsed to send it all off. If there was a proper and thorough form, incentive (store credit... doesn't have to be much. $5-10 would be fine) and a true interest from the company to have the user base's input for the next release (that will actually be listened to) then I'd be in.

If it's just gonna be the equivalent of yelling at a bowl of porridge... then I've better things to do with my time.

They do send out surveys. At least, I recall receiving a few. Have not seen one recently though.

LOL. Like their IT infrastructure will handle it.

I don't think I've ever gotten one however the problem with free/random surveys is they don't necessarily reflect reality. You'll only get specific types of users filling them out. Generally people who complain all the time, people who have too much time on their hands, fanbois (sorry for using that term but it does apply occasionally), trolls who like to skew survey results, etc. I'd imagine the true number of thoughtful, benevolent and truthful survey filler outers (surveyees?) would make only a small percentage of those polled and the software would suffer for it if the company decided to act on the results. I see lots of stuff get suggested on here that I would in NO way want to deal with on my system.

I hate to be so jaded and perhaps Sonar users don't fall into the Squeaky Wheel category but sometimes listening to the loudest voices who act en masse isn't always the best way to end up with quality results that are good for everyone. A few bucks towards the next purchase would get more people motivated. Freebies don't necessarily work either because many times people already have it or have no interest in what's being offered.

Meh... maybe I'm overthinking it.

I think i've gotten a few surveys in the past 7 years or so.

I think they have a roadmap and aren't receptive to user requests.

I had one wish that was fulfilled but it would have happened without my input no doubt (collapse all PC modules simultaneously).

I wish we could edit gain clips and have the wave reflect the change in real time- like fade in/outs work. I've been wishing for years and it is an important feature available in most DAWs.

If you really want your DAW to do something- find one that already does it and switch to that. Otherwise, live with daily mild frustration.

I have zero desire to switch daws.   "Sonar does everything"

I'd like to have a serious discussion about what kind GUI Makeover I would like to see for X3.   Which does not mean changing the way the GUI functions, or putting anything in a different place.  My GUI Makeover is simply color combinations, and theming, rounded edges, and shading..   I'd like to see Sonar's current look, "sleeked up," for X3.

My next thing that I want to talk about is, "audio dropouts."   I need to be convinced that X3 has, "99% uptime," ie without dropouts.  Before I will upgrade.

Everything else I can say about Sonar is 100% Positive.   So a well written customer survey would let Cakewalk Customers like me, explain where we think Cakewalk is getting it right.   Where we think things can be improved a little.

I am quite happy being a Sonar Customer...  But if Sonar X2 is not a, "#1 hit," than Cake should start figuring out why.

Edit = Btw, you should notice that I am, "not the least bit concerned," with crashes and instability.  I do not think they are issues for me.  ymmv..   I am also very enticed by the way I can record, mix, master, and do anything in Sonar.  It is a professionals software, no doubt there.

My two gripes are above.  They are my only gripes.
