Some new issues I'm dealing with today regarding Lanes,,, <sigh>...

I'm getting very crazy Lane numbering.... and takes that cannot be selected... and strange gaps appearing between the track and the first available Lane... And the numbers are not sequential.... and sometimes the m/s buttons for one lane affect a clip on a different Lane instead of the Lane it's aligned with...

Driving me bonkers today! Oh how I wish I could easily take this back to 8.5.3....

If they release standard x64 VSTs of ALL the PC modules, I would very likely do just that!

Others have reported similar activity.

You should file a bug report specifically on this if you haven't already.

I don't think that the plugin exists that would stop me from using my DAW of choice.

Yeah.... I know I should drop them another bug report, but I just couldn't think of how to enter this one.... I'll try something...

...and there's not a plugin in the world? You may be right there, but the difference in the quality/results of what I'm getting with the new plugins is so superior to what I was using before that it's very hard...

Like going from a U-87 to a crystal mic for a lead vocal! ;-)

The difference between having LA2/1176 compressors has raised the drawbar for me as they have always been such valuable friends in analog studios....

...and then there's the hope that X2 will someday blossom into an actual successor (to me) to 8.5.3......... I don't want to get lost too far behind the curve and still pray for bug fixes to issues still tangled in the earlier incarnations...

I guess I could go back to 8.5.3 if I could afford a UA-Quad bundle, but it's too far out of my reach these days...

Yep, I had those exact same issues, which is why I'm back to X1.  I will also submit a bug report, but you should again, too.  We have to keep hammering about this.

I am actually having more problem with lanes since I installed X2a than I did when just running X2 (fixpack)
..and I didn't think that could be possible.

not condusive to creativity when you sit there swearing at the computer when 'lane adventures' begin.

Don't feel alone...

I too find more trouble with Lanes in X2a than I did in X2.... Hard to believe with how bad X1 was to begin with! I'm still in a state of shock from this decision set... <sigh>...

I'm off to file yet another bug report...

Given the frequency with which people have reported these lane bugs on this forum, it makes you wonder how on earth Cakewalk was able to test the basic functionality of the program without noticing them.

What they need to do is lock 2 or 3 guys in a room with a few different common system configs and get them to spend a week or so going through manual performing every function detailed and make a list of all the bugs and broken features to submit to the programmers. Also get them to put together a project that incorporates all the commonly used methods of recording/mixing/editing to root out any other issues that may not appear just testing things from the manual.

As far as broken features I've found working through the manual I'd say the failure rate is at about 80-90%. Fortunately most of those are more obscure/advanced features that don't really hinder me that much and generally I can find an alternate method to accomplish things but it has been rather eye opening. If I hadn't started doing things this way I would have just chalked it up to user error but when you follow the instructions to the letter and something doesn't work I can eliminate my own ineptitude.

And some of the comments referring to the X2a patch making things worse... well that's why I haven't installed it and I'm glad I made the decision as the reports keep coming out. It's gotta be all the Win8 crap the crammed in there causing the new problems.

Now don't get me wrong... it's still a very nice program and I have absolutely no regrets upgrading to X2 but I really do hope there is a workable patch on the way. I can get things done but I'm really babying the program and I'd prefer to work with a little more confidence. It's hard enough being a beginner without double checking everything and having to remember a ton of workarounds.
