The newest music on there, "Unpleasable" and "Ambient Rose," were both done with X2a and the production/mixing process was trouble-free.
About the negativity...I really hate to sound like a "Gee, it works for me, what's your problem?" type of person, although Sonar really has been very reliable/stable in my studio. I know there are frustrated, savvy people with
real problems in addition to some who have only themselves to blame for their difficulties.
I think there is a MUCH larger issue at hand here. The problems people experience with Sonar are not unique to Sonar; just check out other forums. Another example: people talk about how RME's drivers are rock-solid, but go to their forums and you'll see threads like "CLICKS AND POPS WITH ADAT INPUT! HELP!!"
In my view, the problem is simply that
the complexity of the technology has outstripped the ability of software developers to cope with it. I think you'll see more people opting for systems like Rain Computing's Rain Pak, which is a computer "ecosystem" geared to specific software, and backed by extensive support.
Anyway, back to the music! Do check out "Unpleasable" too, it seems kind of relevant right now...
