You know I have an external hard drive, but have no idea how to use it...LOL I know thats awful but I thought it would be simple, and apparently I was the one that was simple..LOL  I may get someone over here to show me how to use it. If I save them in those two different formats, will I be able to load them back into the program and still be able to mix and master them if I had to do an uninstall/install, or if I had to upgrade my computer?

Yes they should be fine there.

Is it a USB external HDD?

If so just plug it in.

Go to Computer and see if it shows up,
Remember what it calls that drive
Do your Save As, set the file type, and save it to that drive

I like to create and Name folders for each project so everything for that project is in that folder on the backup drive.

Your issue kind of sounds like a couple of different things to me cause I have noticed this prob in the past on certain things

Did you run  DPC latency check to see if anything was spiking the system with X1 up and running?

Kind of sounds like something in the background running gimping up the memory locking up the system.

I have been able to make mine loose sound by messing with ProChannel or mem intensive Plugs when the transport is in motion. Indicators for me were the same.  All meter moving, transport scrolling and all looked normal, just no sound.  Have to close and relaunch X1 to get it back.

When you bring up SD3 from Track View on/from a track on the far left next to the track number, have you tried to reassign a program for the sounds?

Thanks for your help. After updating my OctaCapture and making Sonar detect it, my system is all of the sudden acting way more stable with the current projects I have. I'm still not getting any sound from the Session Drummer 3, or any other midi stuff, I will keep digging on it, it almost has to be something in the settings. Anyway, I'm gonna break away from this stuff for a while, a 3rd divorce would suck..LOL

BY the way, anyone reading this, I do not know how to close this thread. But my problem was simple, the settings in the window that first popup when you open a synth were wrong. One box was marked wrong, and this was the source for many hours of frustration. Lesson, don't let your kid mess with your software, or learn your software obviously better than I have. Anyway, fixed!!! Running like a dream..Thanks to all who pitched in and tried to help me.

There is no way for you to close the thread but you could edit the first post in this thread and add something like "* SOLVED *" to the subject.

That is good news.

To stop folks from continuing to drift into this thread, go edit your first post, and in there you can change the subject line to include the word 'solved'.  That will let folks know to keep on moving - we're walking... ' nuttin ta see here'

I think if you set your son up as a separate user on your computer Sonar will maintain a separate set of personalized settings and such.

Maybe that would keep you two from clashing on settings changes.
