if you call saving every 5 min as a work around sorry thats not stable.
and the issues with many sound cards across all platforms is not stable
yes some have flawless work. but also i know some only buy things that are tested with sonar or use roland capture devices. if you use other daws and dont build your rig around sonar you will have
 drop outs
lost audio before you eyes
i swear i just recorded the best solo ever but sonar didnt like it so it didnt bother writing the audio
 of frezzing
a intire world of unstablility comes with sonar if your not glued to the forum for every work around
90% of the reason all my friends wont touch x2
i have my finger on the forum so i get by, this forum is the only reason i still use cakewalk tec support is a joke. they spend a hour just to tell you buy somthing from roland this will fix your DAW
i had lost my best client last year cus of the brick limiter. and no i never even payed for it or tryed it out, bus TS said its only fix was for me to buy the limiter.and this must have somthing to do with the demize of expanded
now as i said i get threw projects .but never without 3-4 work arounds
and most times i go back to 8-5 for sanity and il never open x1 or 2 in front of someone i wish to work for, does that sound stable. sonar x2 is x1 expanded fixed without the 100$ nonsence charge just to buy unsaveable Prochannel plugs. no templates with PC is a bad joke.
il stick with IK and izotope for plugs
and yes i like sonar it just dont like my hardware,

Sonar is only as stable as the computer you run it on. If you clutter it up with a lot of plug-ins that aren't fully tested, you will have problems. If you don't use a high quality audio interface with good drivers, you will have problems. You also need to periodically test your computer to make sure you haven't picked up a virus or malware. I was having crashing problems and I ran a FULL virus scan and it found a trojan horse malware and removed it. The QUICK virus scan did not find it. Any time your computer crashes or you have to power it off without a shutdown, you should scan your disk drive because it could have some corrupted data. I cleaned up a lot of junk plug-in I had collected and since then, Sonar X2A has been very stable.

To the OP, if you were running autosave, you probably would not have lost 20 minutes of work, so that one is on you.

Very stable. Last week I did about 10 hours of recording. In one instance record was on for 2 hours.

well your intire stament i agree with but this
i have a daw,  fresh install of windows, with no 3rdparty stuff but IK and izotope
built and tested from the ground up with sonar and il still not a beliver its solid enough for prime time client work. im shure it will come around after 2 more updates .
but as i stated, it just dont like some hardware that works great on other daws. period the end
i have a second daw for testing and anything from maudio including delta 0404 0202 1010 all have issues with sonar, my main daw yes runs fine now thanks to this forum.
but saying (Sonar is only as stable as the computer you run it on) is what TS is told to say when there stumped. and know they cant fix your hardware setup.sonar is special it only work with special hardware.5 years of testing on every low buget sound card includin UI tells me this.
but yes all those things  in your comment  can give you more trouble too
have a great day forum il be back after my 9 am session

As far as stability I don't agree. I havent had a crash yet (touch wood!) What I will say about X2 so far is that i'm seeing some strange quirky things happening intermittently. Yesterday I had some pro channel modules not load up, I've had some disappearing recorded clips, the now time display on the transport has gone blank intermittently, i've had loaded vst's not open the gui when clicked, just to name a few!! So I'm with you as far as an update, but for different reasons.

I realy think its a plugin messing with my setup .......just now Sonar ran over 9 hours ...no crash .............. and realy one must close ANY other aplications , chats , steam ,gaming programs ....´cause Sonar needs all the power of the PC .......................9 hours no crash ? nice

If your DAW is full of applications like games, chats, and steam (?) you're asking for trouble.  SONAR X2A is pretty stable on my dedicated DAW, though I have seen some of the issues that others have seen.  One stubborn issue I was having turned out to be an old version of a Voxengo plug causing problems.  Once I updated that plug the issue went away.

Are you using both 32 and 64 bit plugs? I know it shouldn't be a problem but it seems to be a common thread in stability issues. YMMV...

YOU agree?

I just lost 20 minutes work .......GJ!

No, i have not had a crash in X1 or X2 and i use Sonar daily, at least 4 hours a day.

If you lost 20 mibnutes of work, then you need to learn hoe to press the "SAVE" button every now and them. dont blame your screw up on Sonar. Its not thier fault you have a flawed workflow. I actually never lost any work in over 7 years of using sonar on a dialy basis..

I think X2 is currently a bit cranky. Here's my favourite current one: pressing the expand button to show ProChannel on a bus. About 50% of the time, that's a total white out, restart-the-computer crash for me.
