I found that Sonar became infinitely more stable for me after I set up a separate user account dedicated to audio work. This second user account has no startup programs, no automatic file syncing going on and as much crap disabled as possible.
I don't know much and I've never heard that or thought of it but it sounds like a great idea... I'm going to do that. Did you have to reinstall everything or just point import it to the new acct? OR what...
Thanks for a great sounding idea!

When you create a new user account, all of the same programs and apps are available to you. But you can have different Windows settings, for instance you can disable the Aero theme, or you can turn off your antivirus. Basically it's like having a new computer, except that you have access to the same programs and files as the other user account.
If you open your C: drive, you'll see a folder called "Users." In this folder you'll see folders for all of your user accounts. In each of those user account folders, there are separate folders for documents, the desktop, downloads, pictures, videos etc. So one thing to remember is, if like me you have your "My documents" and "My Pictures" and "Downloads" folders located on your data partition instead of the system partition, you'll have to relocate these folders again for the new user account, otherwise they'll be on the C: partition by default. You may of course wish to have separate photo/download/document folders for the new user account, but I like both user accounts to share those folders. It's real easy to set up.
Here's a quick guide:
