  • Sonar crashing when using keyboard to trigger Session Drummer

So... something must be funny about the midi track I made. I used input quantize and played my project using the keyboard to trigger the drums. Now, as I try to edit in Piano roll view, Sonar keeps crashing. No idea why.

And on some notes there is the slightest click at the start (bass). Is there a setting I make bigger to make this problem go away?

thanks in advance

And you only have the problem on this track and have done the same thing before with no problems? What keyboard are you referring to? Computer keyboard or External MIDI controller/synth? Just trying to rule things out.

Sure. It's a Yamaha external keyboard midi controller. I just played with the keys. Nothing fancy.

I don't know. I tried a restart. I do use the keyboard from time to time, but I'm more of a guitar player. I'm barely musical with the keyboard.

Well, that rules out a MIDI data loop. I got nothin'.

make sure in preferences/Project/Midi that you midi sync output port and your MTC output port are assigned to only your controller(only one controller)

Make sure in Preferences/Playback and recording your currently assigned port is set to your controller(one controller)

this should help out with the crashes
EDIT:
im sorry,
scratch that message above.

i would try to open another midi track in the PRV and see if your having the same issue,it could be the midi file became corrupt.
try a few different editing procedures as well to narrow it down.let us know.

I returned to an autosave version of the project.

I backed up the autosave version.

I discovered that having 3 lanes of data on the Rapture track was doing me in. I had 2 lanes muted. I created a new midi track and dragged the data from the two muted lanes to the unrouted midi track. then deleted the extra lanes and my problem went away.

GREAT detective work, glad you have a solution.

I wish there was a way to consolidate solutions - any ideas?
