I'm sure you'll get there.  Live drums are a real skill, playing them and recording them.  So many different sounds to get recorded just right and then mixed.  I give you credit.

Production comments -

Please keep in mind production thoughts are like food....its all totally subjective so take it all w/a grain.

2:54 is a great tension release point but rather than ramping aback up, at 3:04 if further slows down the train having me waiting for something to happen...which is not a good thing IMHO. I would have liked to hear that release point kick back in w/o further stretching out that (slower) section. When you do kick back in your vox is strained on the high notes... I noticed that in other parts of the tune but in this section, which you took (too) long to set up has my full attention and the strain sticks out....but a re do is an easy fix and I would make that happen (vox wise). On the outro you chose to once again slow it down to end the tune (sloppily which works on some tunes but didnt work for me here). I would have just replayed the end (starting a 3:18) part over and over and just faded.

Simply stated the strength of this tune it's melodic catchyness and the ending doesn't play to that strength and in fact steals from it. Still all and all a very cool song.

pogue, I love comments like yours because they really challenge my ears. Are you into google+ hangouts? I'd love to chat with you and others - if you're willing. We could even record it and have people review it for a value...

I've remixed those toms...maybe the part just doesn't work with the resources I have...I don't know. That bugs me.

Sorry Joshua....not really down with that due to time restraints...to do it right it really takes loads of time which any spare music time I more or less dedicate to DT tunes and a few other side gigs......so sorry to say my plate is full

This is a much much better mix though I still think the toms have a tad to much rumble a little high pass rolling them off bellow 100hz would help.  Just my furry eared opinion.
