A neighbour popped over earlier with a magazine he found in a junk shop. It's Guitar Player from November 1982.
He picked it up as he knows I'm a big Randy Rhoads fan. The magazine has an extensive feature on Rhoads.

After reading the Rhoads stuff, I casually glanced through the rest of the magazine and look who I found!

I've followed your electronic articles for years.  Being a (former) ham radio op and amp tech (and had a 2nd class FCC radio telephone license).  I think I've probably built or at least toyed with several of your designs.

Are you saying Craig is old?

Good thing he's not a regular around here anymore....

Yeah, I met Craig at a Frankfurt Music exhibition once (I think early 90's) and he was touting "Keyboard" mag.  I subscribed and are still with them (until THEY die ... ;-)

I built a springline reverb from schematics by Craig.

Yeah, actually I died a few months ago. However before that happened, I programmed my computer to post periodic messages for various forums and social media that will last through 2020. So I'm able to keep up appearances.

And BTW, if you really want to know how I old I was, my first published article was in 1966.

Watch for my line of guitar effects that will be coming out in 2018...

I had that GP with RR on the cover. I don't even recall when Craig articles started making his name familiar, but it was when music mags were a pretty new thing. GP and Musician and PAIA Electronic Musician, Mix, db, and others that I'm sure I have forgotten, were such a treat when they first started showing up in Chicago in the mid-late '60s. I bought Craig's books as they came out, the home recording one and Electronic Projects.
Craig, you're just a fixture in my life ..... a constant over most of my 54+1/2 years of "music-ing"
Thanks won't even cover it all, but hopefully will suffice!

Yeah, the guy's been around for a while and when I was younger I had a ton of respect for him because he was everywhere - articles, writing manuals for synths / samplers etc.

That's why when he wrote a review on Sonar, I was like, "Finally!  This guy will call out the bugs!  This guy will call out the bad design changes!"  Except he didn't.  In fact he praised everything pretty much like he's never even used the program.  It was bizarre.

Anyway, when it came out later he was hired by Gibson / Cakewalk, I was like, "Ohhhhhh No wonder his 'reviews' of Sonar read like a damn corporate press release of the program.

Anyway, I've kind of split him into two - the pre Cakewalk Anderton who wrote all those great articles and that I respect, and well, the post Cakewalk Anderton who needs to eat.  I prefer to make pretend post Cakewalk never happened otherwise I can't enjoy the old tech articles he wrote without constantly wondering what his agenda is.

You know the saying, you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

I remember Craigs' articles in the 80's and 90's. Always a stand up guy and very helpful. I think Craig brought back legitimacy to Sonar. Thanks for buying in Craig and sharing your talents and knowledge.
