So I decided to take the plunge yesterday , and upgrade to W8 pro.
Personally I was regretting to upgrade and probably wouldn't have, if it wasn't because my c: drive was almost maxed out with only 3 gigs left. So I was left with either reinstalling everything from scratch or try the upgrade process and there was no way I wanted to reinstalled and track down all my serial numbers ..
So I did a clone of my c:drive using Arconis true Image to another newly formatted drive, I ran into a few snags just because my windows 7 Os had a corrupt MBR, So I had to do some rebuilding and repairs with the windows 7 disc , But as soon as my cloned drive loaded up with windows 7 , I proceeded with the upgrade to windows 8 using a USB flash drive that I saved it to when I bought the windows 8 upgrade.
The whole process took about 30 to 40 mins, with it loading all my apps and settings as it was prior. My audio drive which is the Roland quad Capture needed to uninstalled and reinstalled with the new 1.5 installer, That worked flawlessly , and surprisingly my TASCAM FW 1884 loaded up just as before in windows 7 , I did nothing but turn it on and it recognized the driver, Although I only use it as a control surface which works perfect exactly as it has in windows 7...
So to sum it up the installation went pretty awesome in eyes, Everything seems to be working perfectly.
One thing I did do was unplug all usb devices prior to upgrading accept for my mouse and keyboard. And I plugged 1 in at a time when the upgrade was complete . One other thing Acronis true image is invaluable .
