I'm stuck.  I have a project that is a mix of MIDI and Audio tracks.  When I play the project to work on the mix everything plays fine.  But when I export to a WAV file, using the "What you hear" option I only get the audio tracks.  I found some differences between the MIDI settings in 8.5 vs. X1, but nothing has made a difference.  Any good suggestions on what might cause that?

For some reason, I don't think "What you hear" is "What you want" but i may be wrong.
 I presume you are using softsynths?
Have you selected all tracks?
have you bounced to audio first? (Not that you have to!)

Thanks Brian.  I used "What you hear" as a shorthand, but yes, that's a setting that has worked well for years on earlier versions of Sonar.

I tried again but did ctrl-A to select all tracks, but no change.

And yes, of course, if I freeze a MIDI/Softsynth track then yes it exports just fine, but I never had to do that before so it will become a nuisance and waste disk space.   {edit: I tried it.  So you're right, that would work, but it's not what I want to have to do and I shouldn't have to... something is wrong.}

Would it bounce correctly using real-time audible bounce?

Well, I get to wear the dunce cap this week.

This takes some explaining.  To start, this hasn't really been mixed yet, I was just dumping the draft version so I could practice the solo for awhile before recording.

I have a ton of tracks on this thing right now (most that will eventually get deleted, merged, etc.) but for some reason I added the audio track for the solo, handn't recorded anything but punched the Solo button.  (I must've done that last weekend since I haven't gotten to work on this since then.)

I don't know why this happens but the Solo button attenuated the audio tracks, as it should, but completely buried the midi tracks.  Unpunching the button fixed the "problem".

Thanks.
