WinXP SP3 / Duo CPU @ 2.33GHz and 4 GB ram
Delta 1010LE (Drivers 5.10.00.5057) and (Panel 1.0.03.27 – 10.19.198)
 
Hiss and notice up to -42
 
Drivers tried:
MME 32bit Worst! (Hum / hiss / flang / thing) in both 16 and 24 bit.  
WDM/KS (Hiss up to -42) will only run in 16 bit /driver error in 24 bit and sets it back to 16 bit.
But when profile says 24 bit is ok.
ASIO are the same as WDM.
This problem starts at the brackout cable with nothing plugged in but the monitors (HS50)
Jumpers are set to 2A
 
I have tried many different configurations and nothing is working to remove the hiss.
I have turned off home heating, florescent light, plugged computer into power conditioner,
Turned off internet, Ethernet card and turned off Virus software and still the hiss is there.
  
I just pulled out my Delta 44 and removed drivers. I never had hiss with the 44 even down at -90 dB and worked great!
 
I have been all over my system trying to track this down and I’m having no luck.
 
 

I might suggest putting the delta back in and see if the hiss goes away.

Process of elimination: 

Disconnect eveything from your amplifier except the speakers. Do you still hear hiss?

Reconnect cables and devices one at a time until the hiss comes back. 

the amp is inside the HS50 lol... I have now tried 2 pci ports with and without braekeout wires, recored with sonar 8, 7 and Audition....
I have been on this problem for 12 hours + I know this unit better then the folks at M-Audio now... ;) ha!
I'll be putting it in another computer soon and see if that works.

All attempts to fix my problem noise failed… including the BEST tech help with M Audio that I have ever had in 20+ years of tech help! He dug up some OLD drivers that work better, yet the hiss remains.
The problem is that the PCI card/something to do with my system that we could not track down and where the noise is the signal can’t go around it…
 
SO I was thinking….
Is there a way to lower the signal gain in a sonar DLL file?
Think of it like turning down the input on a preamp until the noise is gone.
There must be someplace in the programming that can adjusts the signal floor level…
I don’t know.. lol! any Ideas?
